I was thinking about this as I have a literature degree and in the 10+ years since I graduated I think I've read less than ten books Blush The degree, which I really enjoyed doing, just killed my love of reading for pleasure.
Also, when I was on maternity leave, I bought a second hand PlayStation and got quite into gaming. I've tried to play it again since but it was never the same and it just felt like a waste of time. Something about completing a new level when life felt quite repetitive (feeds, naps, walks) was really rewarding. I think back to that time with fondness.
I also remember my friend who got really into cooking after lost her job and took a few months finding a new one. She had never even cooked pasta prior to this and then she was inviting us over for three course meals. She had a real gift! When she found a new job she went right back to ready meals and take aways. She has never cooked since!
What are yours?

Festivals, but then, I may have enjoyed them because I was permanently stoned or tripping at them.

Hair cuts for me as well. Used to have a brilliant hairdresser who knew how to do the perfect blonde for me and as I have a lot of hair, we’d have a brilliant few hours chatting away.

Since she retired I’ve not been able to find anyone nearly as good and I find it so stressful worrying I’m about to spend £150 on something I’m not happy with.

Yoga. Adored it for about a year. Missed a few sessions and never went back. Can’t get back into it and just find it a bit dull now.

Make up. Loved make up and all the different brands and trying out new products especially Mac. My face is lucky if it sees a bit of mascara nowadays.

Reading. Have actually just back into books after a couple of years of struggling to settle on something to read.

Baking. Had a massive phase of baking cakes and cupcakes but just find it a pain now and I hate buttercream Confused

Meat. I used to really enjoy meat, particularly lamb and steak. I really don't enjoy it anymore. I have no issue with the ethics of it, it's the taste I've gone off.

Sex.

Used to love it. Now I'd be happy never to have it again.

Drinking wine every night. I got so bored (and fat).
I’m over it. Four days not drinking now and having a pint of water as soon as I wake up. I feel so much better already.

Holidays or rather staying away from home. I still enjoy seeing new places but I really wish I could go home each night. I love my house, my bed, my stuff, and don't really want to stay anywhere else.

Camping. We used to go camping every summer when I was growing up and I absolutely loved it! My DH hates camping, would much rather go to a 5* hotel. I feel like he has ruined it for me, like now I see that we only went camping when I was younger bc we couldn't afford anything better. I also see now that it really sucked for my mom bc camping is sooo much work!! I used to feel so guilty for depriving my kids of childhood camping trips but my DH points out that they go on trips to really nice resorts all around the world (we tag along while he travels for work) and those will be their childhood memories instead. But it just still makes me sad - I wanted them to have the same memories I had if that makes sense. We do do a lot of outdoorsy things but nothing beats having hot days at the beach, campfires & sleeping in a tent in the forest.

Getting ready for a night out or special occasion.

I used to love it, almost more than the actual event I was getting ready for. Spending an hour or two doing my hair and face, trying a couple of different outfits on, doing my nails, generally being really pleased with the result and confident I was truly looking my best.

Now I get out of the shower and sigh...if I could click my fingers to get to the 'ready' stage I would. The slog of curling my hair, putting 'proper' make up on, finding an outfit I'm happy with and then only feeling a bit Meh about the outcome.

I suppose it's an effect of being older, fatter, more knackered. But I'm only 34 so hardly over the hill 🤦🏻‍♀️

I get so many of these! To add to my list..

Festivals
Getting drunk
Clubbing

Do we all grow out of these?

Going out to a few pubs then on for a late night curry with a group of friends. Really enjoyed it throughout my twenties and early thirties. I'm fifty now and the thought of it fills me with dread.
