Think I need a handhold today.

Beside myself with worry. Since March 2020 I have been having almost constant migraines/headaches, constant vertigo and dizziness and feeling nauseous. I also have brain fog all the time and am constantly tired. Plus I get clammy when the episode happens. I’m having a brain MRI this evening and honestly I’m petrified something is going to show up. It’s almost like a gut feeling I can’t shake it. I’m 31 and have ulcerative colitis and anaemia but these have been found not to be causing it. Not in any contraception either.

I feel so sick with worry I can’t eat and my stomach feels awful. Any tips or advice? Right now this is eating me up. 😩😩. It’s neurology that’s referred me so surely they think it’s something.

Handhold from me
I've recently been diagnosed with Vestibular Migraines so can sympathise somewhat. It's horrid isn't it
What time is your app? Have you had an MRI before? They're very odd

Cocksinsocks · 07/05/2021 14:25

Maybe ask for this to be moved to the health section. Good luck

Vestibular migraines is what they initially diagnosed me with but now their thinking it’s something else. I’ve had body MRIs before but never a head one.

I can’t offer any words of wisdom but I really hope it goes well for you. Flowers

Oh that's interesting. Oh good, the first MRI I had was terrifying as I had no idea what to expect. Could they be looking for MS signs? Do you take anything for the Vestibular Migraines? I started on Amitriptyline and have recently altered my diet massively and I'm doing really really well, more good days than bad now

Not necessarily - I had an MRI a couple of years ago, more to rule out anything being wrong in my brain than prove there was (I had symptoms very similar to MS that were caused by B12 deficiency. The B12 deficiency was known about but i was scanned to sure the symptoms i had were solely down to that). So it may well be your symptoms are to do with the conditions you have & they simply want to rule out any other cause.

Very best of luck for today. Hopefully you'll be one step closer to finding out what's wrong, and getting the right treatment.

Have they done a tilt table test on you, to check for POTS?

They haven’t said and that’s what worries me I think. Atleast if they said they think it’s this or that I’d have more of an ideA. This way I’m thinking the worst. I’ve been given migraine tablets but I can’t remember the name. I was offered amitriptyline but told to not take anything till we get answers.

Sorry, i misread your op - ignore my "so it may well be your symptoms..."

(really must put my specs on before typing)

I’m not sure at all. I think they tilted me in a&e but nothing else since.

hand hold and kindest thoughts Flowers

MeadowsInSunshine · 07/05/2021 14:43

Sending you Flowers If it helps to ease your worries, often medicine is about excluding the nasties before coming up with a diagnosis. I've had several brain MRIs, each time with symotoms that I thought were really worrying; each time the scans have excluded anything really serious and the actual causes have been pretty mundane. One DC is currently under neurology, and again, she's had MRIs, CTs and other investigations done to exclude anything really serious before they came up with her actual diagnosis. Hope that reassures you a bit.

I had similar symptoms to this and have Crohns disease. I had developed Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension as a side effect of taking mesalazine for the crohns. Is basically all the symptoms of a brain tumour just without the tumour. Flowers

CharlotteRose90 · 07/05/2021 18:53

Scan all done and dusted . Never want another one again. I can’t stop shaking and my vertigo has gone off.

Just waiting for the results now :(

Feelingbad2 · 07/05/2021 18:56

Big hugs, I had a head MRI a couple of months ago to rule out a TIA after a particularly bad migraine, they aren’t the nicest things to have x

Feelingbad2 · 07/05/2021 18:56

Are you getting the results today?

turnthebiglightoff · 07/05/2021 18:59

I have ulcerative colitis and anaemia, and will also be having a brain scan soon for twitches / speech probs / cramps that come and go. Holding your hand remotely!

MamaBearThius · 07/05/2021 19:18

They make me shaky too, it's unpleasant isn't it. I hope you get some answers

CharlotteRose90 · 07/05/2021 19:26

@Feelingbad2

Are you getting the results today?
No I wish I was. Their going to my consultant and then I expect I’ll get a letter or a call. Just don’t want to wait weeks that’s my biggest fear.

I came out of it with jelly legs , walked into the waiting room and started crying I feel awful after it.

Feelingbad2 · 07/05/2021 19:33

I think it was 2 weeks from having my scan to getting a letter saying everything was normal x

Rainbow321 · 07/05/2021 19:35

I know it's after the MRI , but handhold from me.

HollowTalk · 07/05/2021 19:37

I really hope those results are good, OP. It sounds terrifying.

ohfourfoxache · 07/05/2021 19:39

Next step should be some answers 🤞
