Have you found an alcoholic drink that leaves you hangover free?

I don’t really drink much anymore , really don’t like the hangover but I miss having a glass of something of a Friday or Saturday night to relax. What are your go to drinks , just for 1 or 2, which don’t leave you knowing you’ve drank it the next day?

Whisky.

I get hangovers very easily but have recently discovered what works for me. A small glass of decent quality wine every 1-2 nights. I use a vacuum bottle stop so it keeps fresh for much longer. I’ve also joined a wine club so I get 3 bottles a month and they’re all interesting and good quality. So I really look forward to my glass and get to try new things. I never feel the need to have two because I’m not denying myself - I know I can have another tomorrow.

Champagne

Cider...i can drink gallons of it and feel fine the next day...wine makes me feel shit though.

Twinkie01 · 06/05/2021 20:16

Dry martini with lashings of lemonade

PedrosPony · 06/05/2021 20:18

Gin for me. I steer clear of Prosecco - it's pumped so full of sugar to speed up the fermentation it causes me such a bad crash/hangover. Although I will never give up aperol spritz!

Susie477 · 06/05/2021 20:20

I find that vodka & a neutral mixer or spritzers are best for not causing hangovers.

Unfortunately, I much prefer red wine, hoppy ales & weissbier. Oh well...

Tia Maria

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 06/05/2021 20:23

G&T or dry white wine.

FangsForTheMemory · 06/05/2021 20:25

I drank quantities of Red Bull and vodka at a friend's party once and was surprised not to have a hangover next day as I'd been pretty tiddly.

Chosennone · 06/05/2021 20:26

I agree with Aldis organic Prosecco/wine

cissyandbessy · 06/05/2021 20:33

Another vote for Aldi's Organic Pinot Grigio or Prosecco. A revelation, no hangover even when I may have over done it drank the whole bottle Confused

Gin and tonic

@JustFedUpOfThis

X-post with ODfox

But she very wrong.

Gah! You are mixing. You need to treat tequila as a stand alone: mix with neither grape nor grain! Honestly; you'll float through the next day half awake and then the next day it will be as if nothing ever happened!
shouldistop · 06/05/2021 21:00

1 or 2 drinks of anything wouldn't leave me feeling hungover.

tedsletterofthelaw · 06/05/2021 21:10

Vodka. Gin if I can stick to no more than 3 or 4.

Problem is once I've drunk enough to risk a hangover I stop worrying about getting one Hmm

Keepyourdistance000 · 06/05/2021 21:11

Peach Archers with or without lemonade.

Keepyourdistance000 · 06/05/2021 21:12

Vodka does not give me hangovers, just a slightly gassy belly Grin

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 06/05/2021 21:14

Bulmers, the bottles are large so one is more than enough but it's like drinking a fizzy drink that relaxes you.

JustFedUpOfThis · 06/05/2021 21:19

You need to treat tequila as a stand alone

@ODFOx

Oh I stood alone. As I vomited myself into oblivion.

Tequila is bad. So very very bad.

MissConductUS · 06/05/2021 21:19

Some of the hangover is caused by dehydration, so drinking lots of water or highly diluting the alcohol is helpful.

NellMangled · 06/05/2021 21:24

This thread just goes to show what an individual thing it is. I don’t drink any more, but gin gave me a headache after two G&Ts (before I’d even gone to bed) and a terrible hangover the next day, and tequila?! Urgh!! The worst hangovers I’ve ever had.

I could guzzle champagne without too much ill effect, and found vodka or white rum the least bad of the spirits.

It’s a lot more fun being teetotal though Grin.

VerbenaGirl · 06/05/2021 21:26

G&T. Much as I love wine, I do suffer afterwards.

Londonbred · 06/05/2021 21:27

I have to drink early and then stop, so I'm almost totally sober before I go to bed.

Tanfastic · 06/05/2021 21:29

Spirits and I'm usually pretty okay. If I drink too much wine then I'm pretty bad.
