Yabu - I wash daily even if I'm on death's door
yanbu - I wash when I'm better

Depends how ill I am. A cold then yes but if I'm hardly getting out of bed then no. Also hate feeling grubby though and shower etc I always think might make me feel better.

I fainted in the shower when I had flu though which was not fun. Also made myself feel much more ill after taking a bath when I had been pretty bed bound but I did need it, I was starting to get a bit whiffy.

QueenPaw · 01/05/2021 21:56

No. Had norovirus, woke up on day 3 thinking I didn't feel sick any more and wondering why I was so cold. Flu. I mean seriously?! I was unwell for 3 weeks and living alone so I managed to get drinks and go to the loo and that was it
Norovirus I would have shit myself in the shower so that was a no, then the flu I basically was out of it for ages

ZoeMaye · 01/05/2021 21:56

Not if I have a temperature. I can't bare it.

Frownette · 01/05/2021 21:57

@Wide I have that recently/now :) It really does incapacitate you.

Sugarcube84 · 01/05/2021 21:59

@sapnupuas

I'm currently dying suffering from hyperemesis and I'm still washing every day. Usually a bath as I go dizzy in the shower.
You have my complete sympathy I had it with my first, thankfully not my second, one of the only places I got some respite from the constant nausea/sickness was the bath I had up to 3 a day but I did pay for it when I got out as it seemed to ramp up after a bath but it was worth it.
@SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace I have mastitis, blocked ducts in both breasts and am absolutely dying. paracetamol isn't hitting it at all.
A warm bath or shower and massaging your breast might help.

I hope you have antibiotics. You need to take ibuprofen regular over the next few days. I’m assuming your bf, if yea then keep feeding and take your breast with your fingers. You need to work from the nipple backwards.

Do you have a milk bleb?

I always wash even after EMCS with complications and I was very ill with sepsis but that’s because it makes me feel better.

thefishthatcouldwish · 01/05/2021 22:02

Yep I shower every day I would have to be very ill not to shower.

Lelophants · 01/05/2021 22:04

If you are so sick you can't get out of bed then how can you wash?

The closest I've had is flu where I've managed to wash every other day when out of bed. When you're that sick you don't eat let alone wash!

Staffy1 · 01/05/2021 22:08

Depends how ill. In your situation I wouldn't until feeling better.

Dugee · 01/05/2021 22:12

I remember having a terrible stomach bug, forcing myself into the shower and suddenly projectile vomiting over myself and the shower. Grim but at least I could wash it off.

It really depends what I'm ill with. If I can barely move then no, but I would try and brush teeth and wash face and hands. If I've just got a bit of a cold then a shower would make me feel better.

I hope you feel better soon 💐.

MiddlesexGirl · 01/05/2021 22:13

Depends how ill.

idrinkchocolatemilk · 01/05/2021 22:16

When I had covid I didn’t touch water or even a baby wipe for 8 days. Then when I finally did shower my temperature rocketed back to over 40 within minutes of getting out which totally wiped me out again! Awful awful virus

Inastatus · 01/05/2021 22:24

I bath or shower daily but if I didn’t feel well enough I wouldn’t!

Timeisavirtue · 01/05/2021 22:28

Yes... I have a need to be clean. I’m usually lying or sitting down thinking I’m doing sweet f alL and then I’m like no I need to wash.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 01/05/2021 22:36

I am rarely unwell but if I am it means my back has gone and I can't get out of bed. Washing is then impossible as it takes me 20 minutes to crawl out of bed and get to the loo.

RedcurrantPuff · 01/05/2021 22:38

I shower every day without fail, the only time I can imagine not is if I was physically incapable of doing so.

You poor thing. Have you got antibiotics? If not I think you might need to take some medical advice quite quickly

eatsleepread · 01/05/2021 22:43

Hmm, when I had Covid (a really bad strain too) it was really hard just to stand in the shower. I did do it, though possibly not every day. I had to collapse on top of my bed straight after though, naked and still wet!

RedcurrantPuff · 01/05/2021 22:43

You're not meant to shower everyday as its bad for your skin and hair but I wash everyday like at the sink

How can showering be any worse than washing at the sink? It’s the same water.

I hate washing at the sink, would only ever do it if no hot water for a shower! Far too much hassle in comparison to a shower.

doomonic · 01/05/2021 22:45

How ill?

Cold then yes, can't get out of bed ill then no.

fantasmasgoria1 · 01/05/2021 22:58

When I have had the flu or a severe bug then I have gone 3 days without having a bath. Obviously I will wash my hands and face and clean my teeth but if I feel really poorly then I would rather use my energy to get better.

Khle34 · 01/05/2021 23:20

It very much depends how ill really.

Routine cold virus, yes I do.

Anything that renders me bed bound, nope.

I was in hospital with sepsis for two weeks after giving birth and didn't shower or bathe at all for the first 7 or so days.

I'm sure showering does make some people feel better temporarily but I'd never force myself to leave my bed to have one if I was in any doubt about whether or not I could manage it.

Get well soon OP.

noblegreenk · 01/05/2021 23:22

I once had a dreadful case of flu and didn't wash for about 5 days as I was far too ill. There was no way I could summon up the energy for it. It was bad enough dragging myself to the bathroom just to use the toilet. The shower i had when I felt well enough was glorious though.

TaraR2020 · 01/05/2021 23:30

Op if you're not physically up to a shower or bath then have a wash: hot water, soap and flannel. It'll freshen you up wonderfully and you'll feel more human for it. If you can't make it to the bathroom then get you dh to bring you a bowl of hot water and a couple of towels and do it from a chair or your bed.
If you can't manage even that on your own, then your dh should help you.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

cafedesreves · 01/05/2021 23:37

OP mastitis is the worst. Antibiotics and lots of squeezing ducts in a hot bath helps a lot.
