Just that really. Are quooker ones worth the extra? Anyone regret having it installed?

Yeah ours is like that, not dangerous at all. You have to press the lever down and pull it towards you at the same time, it's impossible to do it by mistake. Boiling water control on the left, standard tap controls on hte right.

Cookerhood · 28/04/2021 14:35

OP, you will use it every day if you
A. Cook anything in boiling water
B. Drink hot drinks/ make gravy etc

Go for it, but as I said above, don't think of it as a cheap option. It may be cheaper to run than a kettle but don't forget the installation (?£1000) and filter (for us £80 every 10 months). You could replace your kettle several times a year for that.

DungeonKeeper · 28/04/2021 14:47

OP, you also need a warming drawer. Grin

I don't use our kettle everyday, which is why I don't think I'll use it every day. My main reason for wanting one is so that we don't need a kettle on the side - worktop space in the new kitchen is at a premium. I'm not expecting it to be cheaper than a kettle in anyway.

Decided to get slide and hide ovens after advice from lovely ladies on her, and now have been persuaded to go for quooker tap.

Can't wait to see what I "need" next. Big grin

Gazelda · 28/04/2021 15:14

Does anyone know if boiler taps work ok if you've also fitted a water softener? Our water is so hard, but I also want a Quooker.

Cookerhood · 28/04/2021 16:19

I can't imagine not using a kettle or whatever multiple times a day.

We have a coffee machine, so tend to use that.

Quooker hold’s the water in the tank at above 100, so it comes out of the tap at 100. It’s the only one that does.

WidowTwonky · 28/04/2021 22:54

You may not use the kettle everyday OP but you will use the Quooker for instant pans of boiling water in cooking. whereas you’d never bother to do the same with the kettle

I don't get this - you can't hold water at more than 100 degrees, it turns into steam.

Qettles also dispense boiling, rather than very hot water.

If you have a pressurised tank it will.

@Gazelda - resurrecting this as I'm looking for Quooker advice! Our plumber recommended having the Quooker tap as the hard water tap but with a scale control filter (we are getting a softener, and I had thought about having a separate hard drinking water tap in the utility room).

His reasoning was, the scale control filter is for the boiling part so that won't fur up as quickly (though filter will need replacing possibly annually at around £80). The hot water will come from your hot water system which will be fed with softened water. The only hard water would be if you run cold water. As that's only likely to be for drinking or to mix with mostly hot for washing up it isn't a huge issue. Hope that helps :)

I researched this extensively and we bought this one, which I would still recommend:
www.hyco.co.uk/products/boiling-water/zen

(We have the 3 litre). It worked perfectly for 3 years, then developed faults - BUT the customer service has been excellent and they sorted out the problems.

Obviously a kettle is cheaper but we love the convenience - this one is genuinely boiling and great for cooking and cleaning as well making tea.

We have a quoker with filtered cold water and considering adding the cube for sparkling. Definitely would get one if u can we had power installed under sink when we renovated as couldnt afford one then got one when we could afford it a few years later. Although we were also replacing faulty worktop so didnt need to worry about tap size.

100% do it. Not sure of the difference in brands but quooker customer service also good.

ecosln · 29/05/2021 20:12

Our quooker has scale control. Also in hard water area.
