To not support a friends MLM page?

Hey folks,

A friend of mines has recently started selling candles and wax melts etc for a well known UK based MLM company.

I know many women who are part of this sort of thing. I am regularly hounded by an acquaintance who sells massively overpriced aloe products on behalf of a well known MLM company and I have another friend who has recently started selling replica perfumes for a different MLM company.

AIBU to not support this new venture? I don't agree with MLM companies and IMO they are taking advantage of people.

I wouldn't support for two reasons. Firstly, MLMs are awful and I won't support them. Secondly, I wouldn't want to keep a friend's business alive out of pity. If it is dependent on friend purchasing out of guilt, then it won't survive anyway. It feels cruel, but if you wouldn't buy the product anyway, then it's easier to say immediately that you aren't interested than to buy once and have to face the 'why didn't you like it', 'but this one would suit you more', ad infinitum.

The mute button is very useful.

I know someone who sells body shop and she is constantly badgering people to buy the products/ take part in weekly raffles/ invite friends to like her page etc.
Not for me, I hate MLMs. I had to leave her Facebook page.

Nope not at all. I was once called to be told that I was a bad friend as I refused to buy some cheap perfume 🙄
