Feeling flat about drinks outside tomorrow !

I have a child free day tomorrow and I'm meeting a male friend for drinks outside. There's no romance there but I still want to look nice but don't know what to wear, the forecast looks great but I'm not ready to get my pasty legs out yet and all my summer clothes are packed away due to lack of wardrobe space, I suppose I'll end up wearing jeans and a top as usual while all around me there will probably be ladies in skimpy sun dresses and sandals !! I'll be nice to finally go to a pub but I can't summon up any sort of enthusiasm for it !!

18 degrees is not sundress and bare legs weather!! I went out earlier in thick jeans, vest top, jumper, and wool wrap over the top, and my gloves on!
It is for me! Seriously.
Im out again now but have my jeans and duvet jacket on. Its cold once the sun dips.

ChairmansReserve · 24/04/2021 22:16

@Jumpers268

Gloves? In 18 degrees sun? Wow. You must really feel the cold. I'd have been sweltering. Find it odd people telling other people what is appropriate to wear based on how hot or cold they are. I can't imagine ever doing that. My 6 year old wore shorts and a t shirt and was still sweating

I wasn't telling anyone what to wear, they should wear whatever they like!

I was responding to the point about dressing for the temperature rather than the calendar. I'm british-born but jewish/Mediterranean by blood and have raynauds syndrome. I don't take my hat and gloves off until it's about 23. And I'm in bed now with my oil-filled radiator blasting next to me Grin

I went to the pub at lunchtime today in 4 layers and a bobble hat. It was absolutely bloody freezing. Summery clothes are best saved for actual Summer, not April!!

RollWithThePunches · 25/04/2021 17:42

Invest in a good maxi dress for these occasions. They look summery but hide a multitude! I wear mine all year round with cardi and boots in autumn/winter. They will never go out of fashion in my wardrobe.

RollWithThePunches · 25/04/2021 17:45

@ChairmansReserve I had the exact same problem until I had an ultrasound done on my legs - the blood wasn’t flowing properly. I had a couple of varicose veins removed (they weren’t bothering me so I had to go private) and now I’m hot stuff 😂 🔥

AlmostSummer21 · 25/04/2021 18:03

I went out today, to an outside antiques market. 3/4 length lightweight trousers, trainers, tv shirt, cardi. - cardi straight off & shoved in my bag. I was too hot in the sun, but it was chilly in the shade. Very tempted to take my trousers off in the sun as my T-shirt was long, but I don't have the legs I had when I was 20, so didn't! Too hot in the sun though & ended feeling a bit rough.

I hope you have a nice time 💐

TheChosenTwo · 25/04/2021 18:46

I hope you had a lovely time but bloody hell it’s April! My arms and legs aren’t seeing sunlight until it’s consistently well in the 20’s!
I went to the pub last week for lunch and we all dressed appropriately for the weather which was sunny but windy - jeans and jumpers, also coats.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/04/2021 19:04

We have been tidying our garden all weekend, it’s been freezing, that wind has been bitter.

lollipoprainbow · 25/04/2021 19:10

Hi all home now but had a lovely time thanks! Wore jeans and a jacket and so did many others my friend included.

Run out and buy a tinted moisturiser - job done

Thewinterofdiscontent · 25/04/2021 21:51

@actiongirl1978

I've seen people today in sundresses and cold shoulder tops. They look ridiculous, it's april! Wear jeans and a top and converse or similar, sunnies and a bit of lip gloss.

Boys never notice what girls wear anyway.

Yep. I mean it’s sunbathing weather if you’re in a sheltered south facing garden in the SE. Otherwise it’s spring with cold north facing pubs, breeze, shadow and just generally quite nippy out if the sun. Sunglasses as a nod to the sun and wear normal clothes.
Chichiboo · 26/04/2021 07:14

I’ve had my pasty legs out several times recently with pretty knee length and midi dresses I’ve worn them with pumps or sandals and everyone has said how nice I look. It does wonders for your confidence. I say wear the dress and get your legs out lol. Enjoy the sunshine and a few drinks whilst we can :)

lollipoprainbow · 26/04/2021 08:06

Thanks for all the comments now I feel flat because it's all over and I had a lovely time (see my other post!) can't please me I guess !!

I went to Mid Wales Thursday through til Sunday, and come back with a better tan than I ever have abroad lol. It was roasting there. However, it’s been quite chilly here in Brum. Nothing to do with the month tho. If you remember back a year ago we had the most glorious March and April in my 45 years of life.

I’d just decide on the day weather dependant if I were you

SunnyUpNorth · 04/05/2021 07:42

@lollipoprainbow where’s your other post? Intrigued!
