SoarklibgBrook thats why it's old fashioned. Long hair probably was ageing for anyone over 30 in the days before modern styling products and tools. But we have a lot more products available to us than our grandmothers, so we don't really need the same hairstyles as them.

As for those strange punky bobs, with one side shaved and the other a thin curtain of hair, seriously, what's going on there? Does this style even exist outside the UK?

I think, just have your hair however you like really. It seems the consensus on this thread is that a good trim, or a few inches off would suit the OP and they did ask for opinion after all.

The 'strange punky bob' sounds like Phil Oakey circa 1981 but not seen is in these parts lately. Grin

I was just feeling a bit shirty about my hair I cut and colour it myself the good old "mumsnet" haircut ....I haven't chopped it in agesssss though need some new hair Sissors.
Order yourself some new scissors & a colour you love. Then you'll have NO need to feel shit about it as it's a great thickness & mostly looks very healthy.

My friend has very very ridiculously thick hair, but she's having chemo and had to have most of it cut off the other day as it's clumping. ☹️ I keep reassuring her it'll grow back 🤞🏼

Can you treat yourself to a hairdresser appointment? It could then set you off down the right track

To be fair Sparkling I do live in a part of the UK which is particularly old fashioned, and there are probably more pudding bowl bobs than in most places! I just find it a little sad that so many women here feel compelled to get the sae hairstyle. I did also once go to a hairdresser here who, before I knew it, had started cutting off all my hair at the sides instead of the trim I asked for. I stopped her before she could progress further, and effectively had a mullet until it grew back (I actually ended up getting hair extensions at the sides for a bit) Grin I've put a grin but it was actually quite traumatic!

notagainmummy · 22/04/2021 10:15

It's definitely not in the best condition I'm afraid. Looks like a big outgrowth and thin straggly ends. I wouldn't describe it as shit though.

There are a few hairdressers around here who can only do the one style. 😂 Ooh a mullet, those were the days.

You can just trim and brush it up.
Passthecake30 · 22/04/2021 10:27

My hair looked oh so shit last week. A cut, a colour and a deep conditioner made the world of difference. You’re hair does look like it needs the same but is no way as bad as mine was.

IPeedInThePool · 23/04/2021 19:22

New pic with cut update? Still needs a condition treatment

Looks great OP Smile

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 23/04/2021 20:00

No, but your lipstick is dreadful, you may want to consider sharpening the stick thingy a bit before drawing it across your face.
Just a suggestion Wink

Horehound · 23/04/2021 20:07

Much better!! Much more healthy looking and no rat tails :)

Watchingthetelly · 23/04/2021 20:12

Looks really good now! Looked dreadful before

IPeedInThePool · 23/04/2021 20:12

It feels nicer too already I feel more grown up (dispite being old enough Grin )

Looks much nicer for a cut. The colours ice without the bleach, too.

As for a pp's comment, I'm quite partial to a "strange punky Bob" - just not on me.

StoneofDestiny · 23/04/2021 20:23

Much better - but that red makeup does you no favours

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 23/04/2021 20:31

Looks nice.

Lorraine265 · 23/04/2021 20:46

Lovely. Try opalex to condition.

IPeedInThePool · 24/04/2021 07:03

Wow the opalex conditioner is far too expensive Shock I will grab a hair mask treatment this week or order on amazon.

Aussie 3 minute miracle mask is fab and about £4 for 250ml

Passthecake30 · 24/04/2021 22:39

John freida blue pot of hydrate recharge is good

PaniniHead · 24/04/2021 23:04

Looks great! Garnier Ultimate Blends hair food is amazing, on Amazon too

JaceLancs · 24/04/2021 23:17

Colour is fine - just needs a trim as looks a bit wispy at the bottom
Not sure where you are but a trim without blow is about £15 here and I think would give you a boost

MushMonster · 24/04/2021 23:23

Lots of cut comments and I agree!
It is lovely, but I think if you cut it in layers it will have more volume and movement.
Mine gets flat when it gets long, and so heavy, so I used to have it very long, but with lots of layers. Top layer around the chin length.
