Never ever ever.

Weekends and holidays will be spent doing anything that does not involve Going For A Walk.

I don't think I have ever been for a walk in my life. I find it very boring. I walk to get to places and occasionally walk my partner's dogs, but can't see the point of going for a walk.

SionnachRua · 11/04/2021 16:19

100% with you. I hated bloody walks before all this started Grin

PurBal · 11/04/2021 16:20

I'll be delighted when everyone stops "going for a walk" and my regular strolls will return to being as quiet as intended.

ImpatiensI · 11/04/2021 16:25

This! I'm used to having the forest to myself so I'm happy for everyone to go back to the pub and shopping centre if that's what they fancy.
bellabride · 11/04/2021 16:25

But it will be a walk with a pub lunch at the end of it!

BlueDahlia69 · 11/04/2021 16:27

I agree OP, I cycle I love to cycle when I can and I swim every day, that's my whack.. no walking lol

SpnBaby1967 · 11/04/2021 16:28

I used to love a walk, followed by a pub lunch.

After spending so long walking as that is all we were allowed to do, it's now my idea of hell.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/04/2021 16:31

I love walking, it’s great exercise. We always walk a lot so haven’t really noticed much difference other than loads more people are out doing the same. Then again I have little desire to do much on your preferred list so guess we are just different types of people.

I’m with you there @sunflowersandbuttercups, I’ll be glad when the crowds thin into just the regulars again.

jessstan2 · 11/04/2021 16:35

@Sheeeeeep

What will I DO?

The zoo, the farm, swimming, shopping, go to the pub, a cafe, a restaurant, go to the gym, the fair, theme parks, flying lessons, scuba diving, concerts, horse riding, coffee, hairdressers, get my nails done, soft play, play dates ...

Some of that will involve walking.
SpeckledyHen · 11/04/2021 16:35

I live in a country village and I’m sick of the sight of trees and more fucking trees , to paraphrase John Cleese .

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 11/04/2021 16:35

Agreed. It was 4 degrees and snowing today and my teenage DS spent the whole walk telling me the plot of a film I'd already seen. Cannot wait until the pool opens.

WeekendCEO · 11/04/2021 16:35

I like walking with our dogs but I wouldn’t go for a walk without them. I go running a few times a week.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 11/04/2021 16:35

On the flip side, I will be very grateful to be able to go for a walk without hordes of people around Grin

MissDollyMix · 11/04/2021 16:38

I’ve walked and run with the dog so much that she has now bulked up so much muscle, she can pull me over! Never used to be able to! Think for all of our safety I need to cut back the exercise! Grin

Same4Walls · 11/04/2021 16:38

Some of that will involve walking.

Yes but they are not just going on a walk, they may involve walking but at least it's walking with a purpose. That's a whole different category of walking compared to just going on a walk because you cannot go anywhere or do anything else.

PyjamaFan · 11/04/2021 16:40

I love going for walks.

But then I'm antisocial and don't like big groups.

I actually don't want to go to the cinema, gym, shopping, pubs etc.

But I do accept that I am a weirdo. Grin

Eyevorbig0ne · 11/04/2021 16:42

@Glitterblue
Am I your mum? 😂 I'm always asking my daughter if she wants to go for a walk.... The answer is mainly NO

Wonderful! I can’t wait until you all go back to your usual pursuits as we’ll get the countryside to ourselves again...and with far less litter and idiot parking to contend with too. Go and throw your rubbish all over a theme park.

Signed, A Walker.

Bagamoyo1 · 11/04/2021 16:44

@1AngelicFruitCake

I haven’t been for a walk either. I run, which I’ve carried on doing. My kids have played football at the park. If I suggested a walk I’d get a straight no!

DrSbaitso · 11/04/2021 16:45

I used to love walking. Can't fucking stand it now. As well as being sick to death of it, it just reminds me of this shitty time. When it's all over I intend to have a ceremonial bonfire of all my walking gear.

reluctantbrit · 11/04/2021 16:45

I never really did the walks during lockdown as the nearest walkable area had all car parks closed, no street parking and I just don't fancy trotting along the pavement and going around the block.

Since lockdown eased we have been to some NT areas and country parks a bit further out and really enjoyed it. So for us the walking only starts now.

Bagamoyo1 · 11/04/2021 16:46

@pictish what makes you think OP drops litter?

But yes, I agree that I’ll be happy when the walkers reduce in number. My regular runs are like a walker obstacle course!

MeltsAway · 11/04/2021 16:48

Good idea OP ! It leaves all the more space for those of us who've always walked. I am looking forward to empty footpaths and polite people who are experienced walkers, rather than the rude litterers who've crowded the pathways around my area in the last year. Although most of them look like they need to do a LOT more walking, for the sake of their health.

Piglet92 · 11/04/2021 16:49

Love a walk. It's free and easy, there's so much to see and learn. + dogs need them. Looking forward to a looooong one now dd is going back to nursery. Anything over 4 miles is a bit much for her.

pictish · 11/04/2021 16:51

I don’t. I’m just observing in general.
I am a keen hillwalker, trail runner and off road cyclist. I live next to a beautiful range of hills which I make good use of, lockdown or not.

The litter problem up there recently has been well documented. People with nothing else to do causing mayhem with their rubbish, their dogs, their cars.
I won’t miss them. Bye bye now.
