BBC coverage of death of DoE

It's too much!!!!! Yes have a tribute but nonstop coverage is excessive. I have just had to turn from radio 4 to Radio Scotland to World Service to try and find a DoE free station. In vain!!! Turned to Radio 2 and got mournful Winkleman playing dreary sad tunes and reading out sad messages from listeners. I really think the national broadcaster ought to be mindful of the pandemic and not overload us with sadness at this time. Prince Philip has come to the end of his natural life at the age of 99. It's sad but it's not a tragedy. Does anybody else agree?

It is excessive and unnecessary in the modern day.

Provide us with news that he passed away and have a nice tribute programme all about his life, etc but we don't need 24 hour coverage.

He's no more deserving of our respect than the average old chap across the road.

Having a family that are better than everyone else, that we all must curtsey/bow to because we're inferior is outdated. When the queen dies, they should all become private citizens. They have tbeir own money so it's not as though they'd be living in a council flat relying on foodbank vouchers like a lot of people have to.

@sunflowersandbuttercups

All these threads about how the coverage is too much, are too much.

High time the RF modernise the mourning process.

Its so out of touch and out of date with current world we live in.

What on earth have they got to say about an old privileged man after a few hours. I mean in all seriousness they must be surely repeating alot of stuff.

Thankfully I stopped paying for a TV licence and watching TV a while ago.

The RF aren’t responsible for the scheduling.
It’s the BBC that are a bit out of step here, over estimating people’s interest and appetite for this. Everyone is stuck at home, if you’ve seen one news piece you’ve seen it.

I’d watch an hour long documentary about him, he’s had an interesting life. But minute by minute coverage when not much is happening is ridiculous.
