Would you expect a 17 year old lad to be home at a certain time? Not a party or anything, just literally hanging out at a park?

It depends where you live. There is a high chance of being stabbed in a drug war if you are 17 and eating chips in a park at night where I live.

Of course they’re in a park. There is literally nowhere else they can go. If OP had said he was at a friend’s house posters would be up in arms about the breach of Covid rules.

At 17 I'd say 10 or at a push, 11. It would be anti-social to be 'hanging out' later than this in a residential area where people have retired to bed. But I'd expect at least a text after 10 to update on their whereabouts and ETA.

@Theyrenotdrawsmate

I never had a curfew. I was out working. 6:30pm is seriously early *@sbhydrogen* was there a reason (just being nosey)
It was so I was home for supper (which was at 6:30pm) and could do my homework/improve myself in the evening. I was doing my AS/A-Levels at the time. I wasn't a troublemaker, but I'd rather have been hanging out with my boyfriend/friends and probably would have failed school.

If it was the school holidays I think I could come home later, but I don't remember the timings that well. The holidays were too short 😂

I had a 10pm curfew till I left school at 16. Really though, it was only because my friend had one that my parents expected me home as well.

'Park' isn't just the children's play area. It's the open public spaces. We hung out there too. Where else are they supposed to go?
