to worry so much about which month to get married in

May? June? Or July?

In Buckinghamshire. We will have to pick a date soon. We love a venue which is quite outdoorsy but with a marquee.

I'm getting myself so stressed trying to predict the weather. Looking up average rainfall for each month 😂 I know I'm being ridiculous and nothing is guaranteed.

WWYD?

I got married in June and my sister in July. Both total washouts - very cold, wet and windy all day.

Just pick one, and make sure your ‘rainy day plan’ is as good as your nice weather one!

I chose October because I couldn’t bear to be stressed about the weather. I’d seen a friend in tears all day for her June wedding. She’d planned it all outside (why?!) and would accept even the day before that it would rain (and be 13 degrees).

As it turned out it was 20 degrees and glorious in October as it often can be!

It’s too unpredictable to guess. May will be colder if that’s a concern. June apparently we have three mini ‘monsoon’ events in the U.K. which is why it often rains at Wimbledon and Glastonbury. It tends to settle down early July. Then turns again in August often!!

There’s no guarantee but I’d go for early July then stop worrying and plan for rain.

Dd got married in July during one of the hottest summers on record. It pissed down all day. I got married in October - glorious sunshine. No point at all in worrying; it will be what it will be so plan for everything from snow to sunshine.

February. Full day of sunshine! No one needed a coat. Was about 17’c. Very lucky!

Consider your honeymoon destination too.....I got married in August which was wet season in pretty much every country I would have liked to honeymoon in!

Statistically May and September are the driest summer months.

I got married over the second May bank holiday and it was 21 degrees! Absolutely glorious!

I got married the second week in September. The Saturday before I was shopping in thick padded jacket, jeans and boots because it was freezing. Our wedding day was glorious and warm. Our reception was indoors so it wouldn't have been a problem, and our photos have got that lovely autumnal light.

By contrast my mum and dad got married at the start of August and Mum said they had massive thunderstorms all day! Just goes to show you never can tell.

luckylavender · 07/04/2021 20:58

I got married in October in the South Wales Valleys. It was freezing and glorious.

Sugarcube84 · 07/04/2021 21:05

We were going to go we May because all the wedding planners told us it was their favourite month for foliage/weather etc plus if you plan around half term people are less likely to be on holiday than July/August.

In the end we have gone with December Grin so sorry I’m no help at all.

Metallicalover · 07/04/2021 21:13

Unless your in control of the weather either month is the same! Married in June. Rained all day. Didn't make any difference had a lovely day! Sister married in October! Dry and warm day! Sister in law married in September, uncomfortably hot!
Plan for the worst and hope for the best!

June. May can be a bit chilly, July can be a bit muggy and rainy and stormy.

We have a few family birthdays in June and the weather is often great for them
