Shark or dyson

I am BU. I bought a Henry not long ago, I love my henry but it’s done something weird to my new carpets. It’s sort of made them go hard, if I don’t use the brushes it doesn’t pick up l, but if I do, it messes up the pile. They were cheapish carpets but they’re ruined after less than a year.
I’m also sick of the wire, everywhere all the time.

So aibu to buy another Hoover I can’t really afford and if not, which cordless is best for less than £300, preferable £250

The corded Shark powered lift away (not the anti hair wrap one) it's amazing. My carpets look brand new when I go over them. It needs regular emptying but it's a quick job. Worth every penny imo.

I have one of each. Dyson is cordless, Shark is not.

Dyson - runs out of battery power too soon, struggles on my living room carpet. Gets blocked easily.

Shark - useless on hard floors, cable is annoying.

Of the two, I prefer the Dyson, I think it just needs a new battery as it doesn’t last the quoted 35minutes any longer, & my living room carpet pile is too deep for it, it’s fine everywhere else.

I had a cordless dyson stick, but it was never great on carpet and just stopped working after a while. I now have a cordless Henry but bought two batteries so keep one on the charger and swap them over immediately. I gather it is not as powerful as the corded one but it is fine for me for domestic use.

I absolutely LOVE my Shark, it's way better than the Dyson we previously had and is the only hoover to successfully clean up after my two long haired dogs. It's not the cordless one though. My Dad has the cordless one and he doesn't rate it. If you're willing to put up with the wire we got ours for about £230 from Argos.

Rosebud100 · 06/04/2021 11:44

Absolutely hate my shark. Avoid!
As others have said, always blocked up, rubbish suction. I've had to dig out my old corded Miele. Wish I'd just spent more and got a dyson!

3ormoredogs · 06/04/2021 11:47

We hate our shark too. We have a wired lift away with anti hair wrap.

Blocks constantly. Hair wraps constantly too!!
You can maybe use it twice then need to clean all filters. There’s so many fiddly parts it takes forever to clean.
Ours burnt out a motor within 6 months and needed a replacement. Never again!

@HappydaysArehere

I would never have a Dyson as had a terrible experience with one. I have never had a shark. The best vacuum cleaner I have ever had is an upright Sebo. Have had one for years and bought another simply because I was concerned that with Brexit the price might go up and on my recommendation my SIL bought one and was raving about it and the light on the front. So now I have one upstairs and one downstairs. The Miele that was used upstairs is now in the loft.
Sebo are great FIL swears by his

@JollyAndBright

We have a shark vacuum and love it.

I’d have liked another dyson after our old one died but we refuse to support a company whose owner screwed us over by supporting brexit and then moving his company headquarters out of the U.K. to Singapore as soon as the brexit vote came in.

We’ve looked at the gtec cordless vacuums, they have good reviews.

Ditto. Love shark, will never buy another Dyson.
babybunny123 · 06/04/2021 11:58

When the Dyson broke i bought a Shark and could not believe how much dirt it picked up that the Dyson had left behind.

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 06/04/2021 12:34

Are there two Shark factories or something, one churning out very good vacuums, and one making shit ones?! Grin

We don't have pets admittedly but there are some long haired members of this family out hair wrap thing works really well.

Are there two?? I definitely got mine from the shit one if so! I've had enough of unwrapping my hair, (which is why I bought!) I have to cut with scissors, pull, cut, repeat....!!
Bujinkhal · 06/04/2021 13:52

Had a shark, liked it until it died, bought a new one and the build quality had gone way down so I sent it back. Now have a Sebo, it's like going to a Merc from a Lada.

VeryLongBeeeeep · 06/04/2021 13:54

@00100001

Get a Tineco.

Better than Dyson and shark.

Half the price.

Echo this.
Wellpark · 06/04/2021 15:36

Miele cat and dog cylinder. It's great ☺️

Wellpark · 06/04/2021 15:38

Tried a sebo in store and found it very heavy

Branleuse · 06/04/2021 15:51

I hate my shark too, and thats the corded one. I researched it for ages, went by reviews, but it loses suction so quickly. Big waste of money
