Child squirting water at stranger

LudoBear · 05/04/2021 18:49

Group of children aged around 6 to 10 playing with water pistols. Somebody walks past and one squirts water 3 or 4 times at the person. Person is not known to the child.

As the parent of the child, how would you react?

As the person who has been squirted, how would you react?

Deplorable behaviour from the parents, god help the kids as they grow up with examples like that. Parents are the fuckers here.

ILoveAfternoonTea · 05/04/2021 20:01

@LudoBear

I was the squirtee. I turned round and asked them to please not squirt me. They did it again. Four adults amongst the kids were all laughing! Everyone thought it was hilarious. I just walked off but was secretly fuming as it was deliberate.
With the adults being the children's role models it really not surprising how they're behaving
honeylulu · 05/04/2021 20:02

I would have been fucking furious. My own son aged about 4 shot me in the face on holiday with a tiny water pistol. It went right in my eye and I lost a contact lens and it was also extremely unpleasant. I went absolutely ballistic. I grabbed the water pistol and threw it in a bin in abject rage. I think for the rest of the week I was remembered by fellow guests and staff as the "screaming lady".

If it had been someone else's children ... possibly I would have reacted the same. It was a very primal response.

They were little shits. The adults however were prize cunts.

I suspect that the discipline ship has sailed for the children you speak of. If a 10 year old is behaving like this, they are already in the brat category with worse to come. But lots of parents refuse to discipline their children believing everyone else is fault if they complain or retaliate. See the thread running right now about the child who slaps his grandmother repeatedly and the mother is threatening to cut off contact with her rather than deal with her child’s behaviour.

MummyLikesPizza · 05/04/2021 20:03

@Brimborium that's what I was going to say but that's not an excuse to just squirt the strangers. I'd be so embarrassed if my DD did this!

dapsnotplimsolls · 05/04/2021 20:05

Good luck to their teachers if that's how the parents react.

benorjerry · 05/04/2021 20:18

@wizzywig

I know I'd want to grab the water pistol and stamp on it, but that'd be wrong
Maybe not stamp on it or the parent will be screeching foul but I would certainly chuck it into the biggest bed of nettles I could find. At these ages this would have been no accident and looking at the later post one can understand their brattish behavious, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree it seems.
CantBeAssed · 05/04/2021 20:20

Just read your update op...i'd have been furious...i probably would have returned with a power washer and blasted the feckersAngry

Dinnie · 05/04/2021 20:20

As the parent I'd most likely apologise whilst laughing a little and telling my child not to do that again and prompt them to also apologise. If the "Victim" got silly about it I'd tell the to fuck off.

As the "Victim" I'd most likely laugh about it and say not to worry.

It's only a little water kids are kids, there is no malice in it. Mist of us have done something similar

Dinnie · 05/04/2021 20:20

Most not mist

JWrecks · 05/04/2021 20:23

Parent: Child would get a serious scolding and be made to apologize.

Squirtee: I would laugh my arse off and maybe even pretend to be shot and die.

ilikebungalows · 05/04/2021 20:24

Were they waiting for their takeaway?

weewitch · 05/04/2021 20:25

I'd go crazy if it happened to me and that was the reaction of the parents. Rude and disrespectful and I'd be telling them so!

itsgettingwierd · 05/04/2021 20:27

Every time I read a water pistol thread I think of the super soaker one in classics.

That is worth a read for anyone stuck at home and bored!

RowanAlong · 05/04/2021 20:27

Aged 6-10 that’s just rude so I’d expect an apology and parents to intervene straight away.

BusySittingDown · 05/04/2021 20:28

I'd be absolutely mortified as the parent. I would apologise profusely to the person who was squirted at and I would make my child apologise. Although my children would never do such a thing.

If I was the person squirted at I would be FUCKING pissed off! I wear hearing aids - if they get wet, they're knackered.

MrsClatterbuck · 05/04/2021 20:29

Well the apple hasn't fell far from the tree then. Not much you can do now op but I do believe that what goes around comes around one way or another.

TopTabby · 05/04/2021 20:32

If the "Victim" got silly about it I'd tell the to fuck off
Gosh you sound delightful & so articulate Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/04/2021 20:35

Arseholes raising arseholes.

There are a few everywhere.

Italiangreyhound · 05/04/2021 20:35

Horrible nasty behaviour from the kids and the adults. sorry Thanks

SmashedAvocado · 05/04/2021 20:41

As the parent in that scenario, I’d shout at DC ‘what the hell are you doing’ grab the offending weapon off them, and force them to apologise. Probably give them a clip round the ear when the victim had moved on.

Have no tolerance for behaviour like that at all. It’s really disrespectful.

As the squirtee if it hit me in the face, I’d probably be furious and shout ‘what the fuck’. If it hit me anywhere else I’d say ‘can you not’ with a withering glance.

You don’t actually know what they’re squirting at you, it could be pee or something.

Little shits and the parents are bigger shits in the OP’s case.

badg3r · 05/04/2021 20:45

Well as many have already said, the apple clearly doesn't fall far from the tree. Go round this evening and draw a bellend on their lawn with acid. Ok maybe not. Bit still. What a bunch of tossers.

Brimborium · 05/04/2021 20:47

@MummyLikesPizza yep agreed defo not an excuse! Just a possible explanation as to why anyone would be randomly shooting each other with water pistols on a not so hot day (at least it hasn't been where I am Grin)

ImAlrightThanx · 05/04/2021 21:06

As a parent, I would be very cross, confiscate all water guns and move the children indoors to play.

As the person squirted, I would be very annoyed.

Fatladyslim · 05/04/2021 21:14

Is there an option to squirt the child back? That's what I would do if I had a water bottle 😂
