So, name change for obvious reasons...

I've been having some fanjo discomfort over the last few days - a sort of vague burning sensation. I don't really want to go to the GP as a) it's a faff, b) it's embarrassing and c) I don't think it's anything serious - although I will if it continues.

Salient points:

  1. Seems to be worse at night
  2. No burning whilst peeing
  3. Don't see that it can be an STI as I haven't had sex in forever (six months) and used condoms
  4. I'm mid-40s but for complicated reasons know that it's not linked to menopause
  5. No discharge
  6. No unpleasant odour
  7. No broken skin / not sore to the touch
  8. No itching
  9. Have been using Simple facewash for my vulva, but have never before been irritated by products and am not prone to thrush

Any ideas??

Op you won’t know unless you get swabs taken by a nurse but when I get thrush sometimes the only symptoms are a burning vag litteraly, no smell or itching etc so it’s worth going to see a nurse , all the best op get some loose cool leggings on something like cotton Smile

Joinedjustforthispost · 31/03/2021 15:38

@sweeneytoddsrazor

Ok disclaimer that I have never tried this but an old boss of mine swore by frozen sausages as thrush relief.
Wtf! I’m yeah il believe that Hmm
FieryFanjo · 31/03/2021 15:39

@dancinfeet

Have you bought a slightly different toilet roll to usual? My fanjo is on fire if I use any that is scented, even the supposedly gentle aloe vera type stuff.
Well yes, but they haven't been delivered yet, so probably not that!

Funnily enough I do have some frozen sausages in the freezer.

Should it be any particular type of sausage??

@ThreeKneeRepeater

Meant to add mine was due to hot weather and too many sugary cocktails on holiday. Have you had more sugar than usual?
I may have developed a recent addition to Cadbury's Mini Eggs...

How would you discover a frozen sausage relieves thrush?
No carrier bags in Lidl or smuggling contraband meat or....
just how?

Please don't try it Fiery if your nethers are pissed off already I can't see a pack of Richmond helping.

Notavegan · 31/03/2021 15:43

Frozen yoghurt in ice cube tray probably preferable to a sausage!
Get yourself a pessary, everywhere sells them. If it doesn't work then get a swab.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 31/03/2021 15:43

@Joinedjustforthispost

My reaction was pretty much the same as yours tbh. And I wasn't going to try it, but she was deadly serious when she said it.

FieryFanjo · 31/03/2021 15:43

@Apileofballyhoo

I thought you said burning, but then you said you don't have any of the thrush symptoms, even though burning is one?

I think it might be thrush. I've got no idea what sets it off for me.

I don't have burning while urinating.

They're actually Sainsbury's Taste the Difference... Hmm

Is fungal infection / yeast infection the same thing?

🤣😂 has to have been a piss take surely??

So many questions.....

  1. how long till they defrost?
  2. do you eat them after?
  3. if you don't eat them, do you refreeze for the next time to avoid too much food waste?
Cagedbirdsinging · 31/03/2021 15:47

I reacted badly to certain detergents . I switched to Fairy non-bio and stopped using fabric conditioner and Vanish oxy-action .
No problems since .

sweeneytoddsrazor · 31/03/2021 15:48

I have no idea how she discovered it or if she used a particular type of sausage. I didn't really want to question her, I was quite young and in my first full time job. Nowadays I am a gobby cow and would definitely ask how she knew this.

MrsPnut · 31/03/2021 15:49

I have had similar problems but mine have been cancer treatment related. I’d advise using only water to wash the area, I’ve been using the shower head at a distance and flannels soaked in warm water.
I’ve also worn a nightie or just PJ top and been using medihoney barrier cream as well as topical oestrogen.
Do contact your practice nurse because they are brilliant at solving this kind of problem. Mine was awesome.

queenMab99 · 31/03/2021 15:50

I used to get this, was advised by dr. never to use bio washing powder, nothing at all in bath except unperfumed soap, and also yoghurt applied as a previous poster mentioned. Not had any problem in thirty years!

queenMab99 · 31/03/2021 15:52

If you go the sausage route, don't use chilli onesGrin

beethecrackon24995 · 31/03/2021 15:53

Vaginal atrophy. I've had same sounding thing. I am post menopause though

But how do you get clean if you only use water? I know the vagina is self-cleaning, but the vulva isn't. Confused

All the best with the cancer treatment, btw.

I know it’s a joke but PLEASE do not put frozen sausages up yourself. It will cause severe burns and you’ll have to wait till it thaws to remove as it will be stuck to your skin.

Don't worry, I wasn't planning on shagging a sausage, getting jiggy with a chipolata, or rodgering a Richmond.

I was going to ask about toilet paper. I get this reaction from using the ironically named Andrex “Skin Kind.”

Even if you’ve not bought any new loo roll at home, have you used anything different when you’ve been eg at work?

Londonmummy66 · 31/03/2021 16:00

When I've had this it has usually been cured by a couple of OTC pessaries administered 2 days apart.

If that fails and you can't face the GP then a drop in at the sexual health clinic might be worth a try?

MrsPnut · 31/03/2021 16:01

@FieryFanjo It does get clean with just water, especially if you are using a barrier cream or a flannel.
The irritation will be made worse with using any kind of chemical on it.

StCharlotte · 31/03/2021 16:02

Thank you, but there's no itching at all.

But they also soothe burning. Take it from one who knows. Sob.

Hope whatever it is clears up soon.
