AIBU?
To feel guilty?

I guess I'm a bit unreasonable, but I can't help feeling guilty.
Yesterday, when I was going to the supermarket, there were NHS volunteers on the doors asking people entering and leaving if they'd had the Covid vaccine. I told them no and, guessing they were only singling out over-50's said I wasn't over 50. The volunteer said it looked like I had an underlying health condition (I guess the wheelchair kind of gives it away). I joked that they should try explaining that to my GP, and was told to go down to the pop-up in the carpark and ask them if I was eligible. I went in and did my shop before going down to the pop-up. The staff there confirmed that I was eligible for the vaccine and that, if I was happy to go ahead, I'd get the last dose they had. I accepted.
However, I'm now feeling guilty about what if there had been someone else who had also fallen through the group 6 crack who was in worse health than me who missed out and that I was being greedy and could have just waited for my age group to be called.
AIBU to feel guilty about potentially letting someone else miss out yesterday?

If you weren't eligible you wouldn't have got it.
I'm 40 and healthy and I've had mine, some areas are ahead of others. The wheelchair suggests that it might be harder for you to go to hospital than me. I'm not feeling guilty, if that helps? We should all go when called.

Thanks everyone
I really don't begrudge anyone getting they're vaccine, but I guess I'm too used to putting other ahead of myself when it comes to things like this.
@Crunchymum no, not randoms. What's happening (at least in my area) is that the NHS are utilising mobile vaccination centres (similar to the mobile breast screening trucks, but smaller) to make sure that everyone who is eligible is offered the vaccine. Setting up in a supermarket carpark is a pretty effective move.

@Crunchymum they have remote access to the patient system, so it goes onto your notes with your GP, so they can contact you for the second dose. I just phoned my GP yesterday afternoon to let them know what had happened, so they got a heads up before it arrived on the system.

@AmelieTaylor Really?! I've missed out on the flu vaccine a few times because, despite being eligible, I always think other people need to be ahead of me in the queue. Growing up, I was constantly made to feel that I wasn't important and that I had to put everyone else first. I wreaked my own health putting the needs and thoughts of other people first.
And, no, I don't think I'm wonderful. NOt quite the phrasing to use to someone who's had 2 mental health crises in the last 12 months.
Roll your eyes all you want, make me feel bad all you want, if that makes you feel like a better person.

My attitude is this. If you are offered the vaccine, you take the vaccine. I had to put my money where my mouth is as offered one at work (I am under 50, no health conditions). I took it. I know what you mean about the fairness but 100% you absolutely should have taken the vaccine.

I'm the same, OP. I go for vaccinations etc, but cook food everyone else likes, keep to all obligations no matter how hard I'm finding it etc. I fall over backwards not to be a nuisance to anyone, amd to smooth everyone else's path through life.

I am in this club. I am the worst in restaurants. I would rather eat a burnt meal than inconvenience the waiting staff. I also stack all the plates at the end.

OP please don't feel guilty, my DF's son in his early 20's (no underlying health issues/mental health etc) was vaccinated 2 weeks ago. His GP surgery are advancing to that age group.
I did't get mine till this weekend and I'm in my 50's with a health condition, I don't begrudge him at all.

There is (almoat) always someone more vulnerable, so this guilt is simply not rational.
There is 1 person in the world which has no one more vulnerable then them. Don't think it's any of us here and tbh don't think the person would be in UK anyway
