DH comes home, sweaty, takes shirt off and sits on sofa

Thus transferring all body sweat on to the sofa, the covers of which will start to smell bad, and need to be taken off and washed.

This is pretty basic, right? Or am I BU to ask that if he is dripping with sweat he just has a quick shower or at least sits on a towel if he can’t do that?

I’m not talking a small amount of sweat here either.

Pffft if I had to have a shower every time I got sweaty I’d have about 10 a day

Ugh how slovenly, you're only truly clean if you have at least 12

Chunkymenrock · 31/03/2021 12:53

Totally gross and unnecessary.

Back in the old days when I used to go to the office a couple of times a month I'd walk home from the station. 30 mins. First thing I did every single time was shower before doing anything else.

I sweat a lot and just the thought of sweating all over any of my furniture is big no-no.

You need an antimacassar. Or you could improvise and use a curtain or an end of fabric to cover your sofa - which would be cheaper. But if your sofa has a built-in stain resistant coating it might not be as catastrophic as you first thought. In that case you could dip a cloth in warm water with a splash of Dettol in it, wring it out until it's damp but not dripping and use it to wipe all over the sofa (if you haven't a steam cleaner.)

I'm just picturing the dad from Friday Night Dinner now

I have the same problem. DH goes for run or cycle. Comes back and expects to sit on the sofa (usually in his underpants...) whilst he cools down. Take no prisoners, do not allow this.
