DH comes home, sweaty, takes shirt off and sits on sofa

Thus transferring all body sweat on to the sofa, the covers of which will start to smell bad, and need to be taken off and washed.

This is pretty basic, right? Or am I BU to ask that if he is dripping with sweat he just has a quick shower or at least sits on a towel if he can’t do that?

I’m not talking a small amount of sweat here either.

If I was that sweaty sat on the sofa I'd be a bit concerned except in the really hot weather and then I'd get the fans on / windows open, have shower and ultimately put towels over the sofa

Sounds absolutely grim. Why does he sweat so profusely? Doesn't sound normal. He needs to speak to his GP.

Bless him, he’s come down all clean, told me fair enough, he was unreasonable, wiped the sofa down and put a blanket over it. ❤️

He has just lost 3.5 stone but still sweats buckets, so I think that’s just him.

(Ps. I think we all know I’m going to wash the sofa cushions in the machine anyway) Grin

Well yes, but there's always tho stupidly humid days when you're a sweaty grim mess 10 minutes after a shower.... Do you just sit on the floor?

Yes, because women cannot possibly be guilty of anything grim, can they (accidentally or not).

Yes this is BU. My husband cycles and when finishes is very sweaty, sometimes he won't shower if he is going to cycle again a couple hours later (this is common at weekends). If the sweat has dried and he is still in the bib shorts he will sit on a blanket on the sofa. He wouldn't dream of sitting sweaty on our fabric sofa (though did when it was leather)

I want to add that I would do the same, I wouldn't dream about coming in from a run sweaty and sitting on the sofa. No double standards in this house! It's not about stopping people sitting and I'm not a clean freak in that way. We eat and sleep on the sofa but I'd rather it not smell of stale swear.
