To order a sofa I have not seen costing nearly £3k

I am tempted to order a sofa from sofa.com today as I can get £900 off if I order by midnight tonight. I have not seen the sofa as the showrooms are shut and I don’t have a sample of the fabric as it has not arrived yet in the post. If I leave it until the shops reopen, I may be able to see one in a showroom (not sure if they will actually have that model in my local showroom) but the price will have gone back up by £900. I am very limited in my choice of sofa as I have a very narrow entrance so I am going for a breakdownable sofa, this seems to add to the cost as well!

My sofa.com sofas are from most comfortable to least Isla, snowdrop, izzy. Izzy was chosen partially due to dimensions. I’m 5ft 10 though, snowdrop has a very deep seat which might not be comfortable if you were a lot shorter.

I can't believe anyone would spend that sort of money on a sofa you hadn't sat on - let alone checked the fabric!

When we were last looking we sat on loads. They were all different but equally uncomfortable, or we didn't like the colours.

So we ended up recovering our old one. Really pleased with it too!

Thanks for all responses, I am going to hold off, hopefully get to a showroom after April 12th and hope that the same offer comes up again soon.

@DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo was it a Vallentuna? I've watched a video of someone unboxing one on IKEA and it doesn't exactly fill me with joy. We need kids beds too and I'm thinking of hiring a handyman/woman to come and do the flatpack jobs while I paint. I struggle with kids jigsaws never mind flatpack.

Probably a good idea to wait OP. Just a caution for those saying that there is always the 14 days cooling off period online. There are a few exceptions. Obvious ones like perishable items. Also items that have been customised. See Which information. Also if in UK now need to check rights if goods are from EU, I’m not sure what they are or how would be enforceable.

@user64332 - it's a Gronlid.

Really great - soooo comfortable - but I'm really glad we got someone to assemble it.

That's a lovely sofa @Star21. It does look like it has quite a deep seat so I think it would be worth sitting on it before you order (as you've said you are going to). We've got a similar style from somewhere else and it is so uncomfortable! It looks beautiful though Grin

@Iflyaway

What??!

I have the loveliest, comfyest (sp? lol) sofa from Ikea that cost € 600,--.

I'd be putting that surplus into a rainy-day/running-away/pension fund.

If someone can afford a £3K sofa then if they are sensible they will already be saving regular amounts into long term savings. My house budget is completely separate and much smaller than my pension or long term savings budget. If I want to spend £3K on a sofa all it does is affect my budget for other things to go in the sittingroom.
