To want to drink my own drink?

shoutyshouter · 28/03/2021 12:57

Please tell me I'm not the only one who's husband constantly drinks their drinks?
It drives me absolutely bloody mental.
I'll make a pint of squash, have a few gulps, leave it on the side and 20 minutes later it's all gone with just an empty glass left.
I open a can of coke and will have a few sips, an hour later it will be empty in the recycling bin.
His excuse for 10 years has been "well I only wanted a few sips" or "I didn't want a whole one"
This happens at least 3 times a day and I am literally at the end of my tether.
Stop drinking my bloody drinks Angry

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion

Oh for god sake *@RootyT00t* get a grip. I wasn't being serious 🙄
You asked me if I have a sense of humour. I just said yes but I don't find it funny. That's all.
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 28/03/2021 23:47

@RootyT00t strange that you felt the need to tell me it was illegal and dangerous just because you don't find it funny. I suspect that's not really why you said it. More likely because you thought you could be a bit superior and tell me off. 😴

No. I pointed out facts. You're the one who replied and didn't need to.

GreyhoundG1rl · 28/03/2021 23:49

He shouldn't drink your drinks, but honestly; pouring a glass of squash and making it last all day? Who does that? It's weird.

oopsydaisyyy · 28/03/2021 23:54

@WisestIsShe

He is BU. Although in our house if one person is getting a drink and the other is about we offer to get them one too. Would that help?
unless he's a gutter like mine who drinks his own and then mine "cos i never finish it anyway" Hmm
Dropdeadfred2 · 29/03/2021 00:01

Just make 2 drinks ??

BrutusMcDogface · 29/03/2021 00:04

My dp occasionally drinks half of my tea which makes me FURIOUS- but he’ll always make me a fresh one, and often offers to let me drink his tea “as you need it more than I do!” Grin

I can’t believe your husband is SO LAZY that he’d rather stay thirsty than make his own drink!

Oh, and to the posters suggesting bottles at home; I hate and detest drinking out of bottles at work. Why would you do it at home where there are actual glasses that you’re allowed to use (teacher)?

BrutusMcDogface · 29/03/2021 00:05

I must admit that thought crossed my mind, too, but it looks like it would be the op always making two drinks and her husband wouldn’t ever reciprocate.
MarkRuffaloCrumble · 29/03/2021 00:10

Think yourself lucky its your husband. My cat drinks every glass of water I ever get myself. She has two bowls of water in the kitchen and a lovely cat fountain in the hall for fresh filtered water, but every time I leave my glass on the coffee table she sticks her tongue in it Angry

My DP doesn't make himself tea at home - or at work apparently - but will drink a few sips when I make him one, then leave the rest. I still make him his own drink every time I make my own as it would drive me mad if he drunk mine!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 29/03/2021 00:11

I must admit that thought crossed my mind, too, but it looks like it would be the op always making two drinks and her husband wouldn’t ever reciprocate. and I make my DP reciprocate by saying "time for tea I think, your turn" every now and again. He knows it makes me happy so he'll do it. If he didn't then I'd be rethinking the whole thing, not just the drinks!

Dilbertian · 29/03/2021 00:13

Pour your Coke into a tinted beaker, and put some pennies or something similar in it. Or a dc's milk tooth! Just leave it out in the counter in the usual place.

Serve him right for drinking the cleaning fluid/science experiment. It wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been in the habit of drinking anything he finds.

(NB harmless, but gross.)

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 29/03/2021 04:30

@Butwasitherdriveway name change? I did need to reply, as you seemed to take ut way to seriously. Weird!

GeorgiaGirl52 · 29/03/2021 06:00

Could someone explain what Squash is and how you make it?
In my area a squash is a vegetable that grows on vines and is cooked in a casserole or fried. Never made into a drink!

BrutusMcDogface · 29/03/2021 06:16

Georgia- Squash is diluting juice. You mix it with water to make a drink. Nothing to do with the vegetable squash, which we also have here in the UK! Grin

tolerable · 29/03/2021 06:22

make 2.leave them side by side. claim they are both yours.return to update.

It's the same as cordial or kool aid (but made from concentrated liquid instead of powder) if you have them?

My husband does this to me and out of all the annoying things he does, this doesn’t bother me that much 😄 annoying though when I was just about to drink the last bit out of a can. I don’t do it to him because I prefer my own drink!

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 29/03/2021 07:05

I think its slightly odd to make a drink and then not drink it and just leave it lying around. Leaving sugary liquids it will attract wasps and flies etc.

Either make a smaller drink (eg the amount you actually want when making it) and just drink it then and there, or use a lidded bottle and take it with you.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 29/03/2021 07:07

This! So weird. You need like six drinks a day so why eke one out for hours.

Jumpers268 · 29/03/2021 07:10

I do this to my OH all the time 🙈😂😂. I normally just want a sip and can't be bothered to go make a drink. He always eats all the ice creams though.

M0nstermunch · 29/03/2021 07:12

I dont think it's odd at all to leave a drink to have later. I aim for 3 pints of water throughout a day but cant drink them in 1 go so just drink steadily over the day. I actually prefer mine to be a bit warm anyway. It would annoy me if my husband drank mine but then we also always pour each other a drink or at least ask when we are doing ours.

ginsparkles · 29/03/2021 07:19

He may not be too lazy to make a drink, just doesn't think about it. I can go ages without having a drink as I just don't think about it. When someone makes one or says do you want a drink, it'll make me think oh I'm a bit thirsty.

Chanjer · 29/03/2021 07:21

Not something i could get angry about but it's annoying if you're not being listened to I suppose

Me and dw just make 1 big bottle and both drink from it, whoever finishes it makes a new one.

Bramblebutter · 29/03/2021 07:25

We generally make the other a squash when we make one for ourselves...but if I see my DPs squash in the same room as me, I'll take a sip or 2, I don't think he would mind. Wouldn't steal a proper drink though, like a can.

and if I forget my night time glass of water I sometimes drink my DPs.... He hates that lol
