I feel like one of either but I never know what combination of things to order. All the bits. Lol

(And to clarify that's Chinese OR Indian, not both together!)

Chinese takeaway here is:
Quarter duck and pancakes
Crispy chilli beef (my choice)
Sweet and sour chicken (Dd choice)
Chicken Chow Mein (Ds choice)
Egg fried rice

It’s not a terribly healthy selection!

meow1989 · 27/03/2021 21:26

Chinese:
Veg spring rolls
Seaweed
Battered lemon chicken
Egg fried rice
Tea smoked chicken if they have it

Indian:
Onion bahjee
Tandoori Chicken tikka
Or butter tikka paneer
Chapati or plain naan

Nesski · 27/03/2021 21:32

Chinese
Beef hofun
Special fried rice with no soy sauce
Beef curry
Crispy chilli beef
Salt and chilli anything
Btw, any curry from a Chinese take away is fucking dirt (I would know). I still eat it but I'm telling you it's so bad for you.

Indian (Pakistani, don't like Bangladeshi curries)
Sindhi biryani
Karahi Gohst
Saag aloo
Naan

SparkyTheCat · 27/03/2021 21:36

Indian: chicken tikka masala or butter chicken, plain nan or paratha, 2 x popadom, onion salad and mint yogurt. Occasionally also mango chutney, if I manage to get to it first.

I've never had Chinese take away and haven't had an Indian takeaway in years but I used to order

Poppadoms with dips
Lamb dopiaza , or dhansak or biryani
Pilau rice ( not with biryani)
Naan bread

I make the occasional curry at home
Now

Dryadia · 28/03/2021 17:31

Our favourite chinese does a great mixed starter:
Spare ribs Mini meat roll Sesame prawn toast Satay skewered chicken Crispy wonton with sweet & sour sauce & satay sauce

Kissing Duck: sliced duck in a sweet tamarind sauce & presented on a bed of crispy spring cabbage.
( They have reduced the heat over the years, which is a shame, new owners but never found this dish anywhere else)

and to finish crisp toffee banana with sesame seeds. ( trying to get them to do toffee strawberries for us, )

Kn1ghtSky · 28/03/2021 17:39

I've eaten at a few restaurants that have served Indian & Thai food
Yum, yum, yum Grin
Selection of starters
Selection of mains
To share

8bitgame · 28/03/2021 17:48

Chinese

Crispy won tons
Seaweed
Salt and chilli chicken wings
Salt and chilli chicken
Salt and chilli chips (can you tell I like salt and chilli)
Salt and chilli broccoli
Kung po chicken
Crispy shredded beef
Chicken chow mein
Sweet and sour king prawn

We don’t get all of that all at once but a mixture of those dishes generally (I mean I would happily TRY and eat all that but it would be about £100 and I’d need my big pants 🤣) Sometimes crispy duck with pancakes but I find most places do frozen stuff so if we are somewhere naice in a special occasion and I know it’s on the bone rather than frozen meat from a bag we will get it

Indian - DH tends to have a chicken madras and I have garlic chilli chicken and we share some rice and a naan.

Galaxyinmypocket · 28/03/2021 17:49

Indian- bhuna prawn starter or chicken pakora for starters then a chicken tikka madras/vindaloo/ naga for main
Onion or egg rice
Popudoms
Spicy chips
Tikka or garlic naan.

Chinese- chicken balls Cantonese sauce. Egg fried rice, curry sauce, plain noodles, mini spring rolls, salt n pepper chicken

Whatagreytdoggo · 28/03/2021 17:55

Indian- tofu korma, garlic naan.

Chinese - tofu vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, seaweed and sweet and sour sauce. 😋

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/03/2021 18:00

Indian - meat thali. It's lots of small portions of different dishes, great for the indecisive and usually big enough to serve two, especially when I also order saag paneer if it's not included already.

Chinese - special fried rice, the one that comes with one container of rice and one of veg/meat in sauce. Or salt and pepper chicken/sweet and sour Cantonese style if I'm feeling really in need of stodge.

JillsFlapjacks · 28/03/2021 18:03

Chinese
Chopped chicken breast curry with extra onions, or chicken balls and curry sauce
Egg fried rice
Chicken chow mein
Veg spring rolls
Prawn crackers
Chips

Indian
Chicken tikka Biryani, Chicken tikka bhuna, or chicken tikka jalfrezi
Pilau rice
Naan bread or poppadoms
Chicken tikka pakora

Not all at once! But these are the usual dishes we'd order.

LAgeDeRaisin · 28/03/2021 18:51

I've just ordered a Chinese for the first time since moving here 2 years ago due to this thread. Haven't ordered Chinese in years as DH makes great thai/vietnamese/chinese food as he lived those places for work in his 20s and is a bit snobby about UK chinese takeaway. I, however, am very excited about it, pregnant, and it is all I want.

No idea if the place is good. We have gone for:

Prawn crackers
Wan tun soup
Starter platter
Shredded beef with chilli
Broccoli and garlic stir fry
Half an aromatic duck
Egg fried rice

Wish me luck.

LAgeDeRaisin · 28/03/2021 18:54

But also.... was he going to make me 6 different dishes including spring rolls, soup, and prawn toast? No DH. No you were not.
