I feel like one of either but I never know what combination of things to order. All the bits. Lol

(And to clarify that's Chinese OR Indian, not both together!)

OP posts:
Serin · 27/03/2021 20:09

Our Indian takeaway (for 5 adults) would be
Poppadums and chutneys
Chicken tikka masala
Lamb pasanda
Veggie dansak
Veggie jalfrezi.
2x saag paneer.
2x Garlic Nans
2x Basmati rice

Serin · 27/03/2021 20:11

Salt and pepper chips are gorgeous.
The chips are mixed with chilli, green peppers, onions, five spice and salt and pepper!
I recently learned that you can freeze the leftovers and they reheat well Shock

FunnyWonder · 27/03/2021 20:13

Chinese - king prawn with ginger and spring onion and boiled rice

Indian - vegetable korma with pilau rice or vegetable biryani

fallfallfall · 27/03/2021 20:18

Chicken Khadr (made with peppers not onions)
Saag
Channa Masala
Lemon Rice
Kashmiri Naan
My Indian restaurant chef is from northern India and uses amazing Pakistani and Chinese flavors.
Lovely wife so amazingly authentic.

SplendidSuns1000 · 27/03/2021 20:23

Chicken chow mein
Egg fried rice
Prawn toast
Cantonese style chicken (sweet and sour)
Chicken balls with s&s sauce
Chicken/beef in black bean sauce
a side of bamboo shoots and water chestnuts
veggie spring rolls

I should add that's not our complete order, just things we order most. I'm slightly against chips being ordered from the chinese/indian restaurant though!

Treaclepie19 · 27/03/2021 20:30

Chinese
I like a selection so we share:
Spring rolls
Chips
Egg fried rice
Szechuan veggies
Curry sauce

Indian
(An assortment again)
Channa masala (side)
Saag aloo (side)
Pilau rice
Peshwari naan
Chips 😳

I actually like a spicy curry but now I'm veggie there's less choice.

apricotdreams · 27/03/2021 20:33

Chinese: Crispy chilli chicken, special chow mein, fried rice and prawn toast.
Indian: Chicken vindaloo, pilau rice, naan, Bombay potato, mango chutney and poppadums.

These are for 2 people, btw - not all for me, honest!

sweeneytoddsrazor · 27/03/2021 20:37

Just had Indian, we have had

Chicken Bhuna
Chicken Tikka Masala
Veggie Balti
Veggie Korma
Veggie Malaysia
Poppadoms
Peshwari Naan
Bombay potatoes
Pilau Rice

Treaclepie19 · 27/03/2021 20:38

Also, other veggies, what do your Indian takeaway put in veggie curries? We love ours but their veggie curry mix is an odd mix of veg.

WireFan · 27/03/2021 20:38

If sharing with enough people...

Chinese:
Anything in black bean sauce
Kung po chicken
Chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce
Chop suey of my choice
Singapore chow mein
Egg fried rice
Hot and sour soup

Indian:
Prawn puri to start
Some kind of dhansak
Some kind of rogan josh
Saag paneer
Peshwari naan
Pilau rice
Poppadums and all the chutneys

HeyMicky · 27/03/2021 20:38

We mostly order starters and sides now

Prawn puri
Naan
Raita
Lamb chops
Tandoori chicken
Shik kebab

Duck and pancakes
Salt and pepper squid
Park Choi or morning glory in garlic
Chicken wings
Seaweed
Dumplings

MrsKoala · 27/03/2021 20:40

Indian - tandoori mixed grill (comes with salad and naan), cauliflower bhaji/Brinjal bhaji.

Chinese - hot and sour soup, chicken in black bean sauce and salt and pepper spare ribs (I make my own cauliflower rice).

JaceLancs · 27/03/2021 20:41

Chinese is usually satay chicken or beef in black bean sauce with a side of vermicelli noodles with veg
Indian is mixed kebab starter with either a chicken tikka korma or a rogan josh with mushroom bhaji and Bombay potatoes or saag aloo

bluechameleon · 27/03/2021 20:42

Crispy duck, starter selection, egg fried rice, chicken and cashew nuts, beef in black bean sauce.
Poppadoms, onion bhajis, chicken bhuna or chicken jalfrezi, lamb saag or lamb rogan josh, saag aloo or aloo gobi (potato dish depends on choice of lamb dish), vegetable biryani.

WisestIsShe · 27/03/2021 20:43

Chinese here is one sweet and sour battered chicken. One chicken chow mein and one ho fan noodles with char sui.

We haven't found a great Indian locally so prefer to make at home.

Chanjer · 27/03/2021 20:45

Are the posts above referencing salt & pepper chips typos or is this a thing I’ve never seen before that everyone else knows about? Salt & pepper squid yes (hell yes) but chips

Same dish with chips instead of squid. Probably good if you like chips

Chinese:
belly pork or other BBQ meat on steamed rice

Indian:
samosa chaat
King prawn Buhna
Steamed rice
Sag aloo

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 27/03/2021 20:45

Currently waiting on my Indian... it has been to hours Confused

3 adults and 1dc
Chicken tikka and mushroom madras
Chicken tikka madras
Mushroom madras

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 27/03/2021 20:49

I don't often get take away, but if I do
Peshwari Nan
Prawn Dhansak
Spinachy side dish

OR - Sag prawn and dhal as a side dish

  • there's a couple of local places where there's not a wide menu, so the days special is inevitably the best option

Chinese - haven't had Chinese takeaway in years, but probably rice with sweet and sour prawns in batter - but I'm more likely to get that from Waitrose than a takeaway.

Vietnamese - you didn't ask, but Pho do a brilliant Prawn Kari.

there's a theme - I like prawns!

lboogy · 27/03/2021 20:53

Chinese

  • special fried rice
  • Singapore noodles
  • beef in black beans sauce
  • salt and chilli squid
  • sweet and sour chicken Hong king style

Indian

  • biryani
  • garlic naan
  • Lamb samosa
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 27/03/2021 20:53

I had lunch yesterday with a friend from an Indian street food van that I think normally does festivals - ate it in the park. Sag paneer with biriyani and dhal - the rice was amazing, had lots of pomegranate seeds, little bursts of freshness as I was eating.
I now know what to do with the bag of frozen pomegranate seeds in the freezer.

Belledan1 · 27/03/2021 20:59

Szechuan chicken is lovely. Yuk sung too.

PurpleReigns · 27/03/2021 21:08

Indian - onion bhaji, samosas, poppadoms and chutneys, naan, chicken tikka masala, lamb madras, mushroom rice and plain rice

Chinese - spring rolls, prawn crackers, duck pancakes, smoked shredded chicken, sweet and sour chicken balls, egg fried rice, Szechuan prawns, chips.

I have teenagers Grin

Ginblooded · 27/03/2021 21:21

From the Chinese I usually get crispy shredded beef, Singapore chow mein, prawn crackers and spring rolls.

God I want Chinese now!
