To have a list of things I'm desperate to do after pregnancy?

First pregnancy was a doddle, not a minutes discomfort the whole 9 months...

This time, not so much!! I'm miserable, so to keep myself from becoming a depressed emotional mess I've been listing things to look forward to after pregnancy is a thing of the past.

Dieting (sounds ridiculous but being able to take control of my weight and get back to losing will do wonders for my well-being)

Gym/swimming

Having a glass of wine

Being able to wax downstairs without causing myself moderate to severe injury

Wearing a nice pair of heels

Being sterilised! (Another weird one I know but I'm having my tubes removed at the same time as delivery and I think it will be quite liberating to never have to touch hormonal contraceptives shake!)

What are you looking forward to after pregnancy? Or what things did you absolutely savour every second of once baby was born??

I’m so happy to see this, I could have written this post except for the tubes removed bit, and I started the list today!! Ahhhh so, so many things....some prevented by lockdown as well as being extremely immobile/intermittently unwell/insert other pregnancy issue:

Riding my horse
Going for long walks with new double buggy
Going to yoga and Pilates...classes! With real humans!
Getting back in shape
wearing my nice clothes again
Being able to breathe and bend down
Painting my toenails
Putting my own socks on
Ditching the crutches
Lying on my stomach
Binning the gaviscon
Using a normal pillow
Being able to cuddle and have sex with DH
Being able to hold a wee for more than 10 seconds
Turning over in bed without the need for a tug boat
Running round with DC1
Meeting my friends for a drink...in a pub!! (Beer garden counts)
A goats cheese salad, with chunky pate to start!
Getting my hair done, nails, lashes, bikini wax, everything waxed in fact
Cider in the fridge

Hope this helps get through along few final weeks 😁

I can't wait for a nice cold pint. Sleeping on my stomach. Starting my diet to get the 3 stone I've piled on in the last 4 years off again

Nesski · 27/03/2021 20:52

Buying clothes knowing they will fit (everything fits aside from bump)
Group classes
Eating whatever I want without anyone judging me, there are so many old wives tales of things you shouldn't be eating (sushi, soft boiled eggs, certain spices so no curries?? smoked salmon??), It's been so hard for me to tell these people to educate themselves.

Nesski · 27/03/2021 20:53

Dropping the fcking gaviscon/omeprazole.
Eating regular sized meals 3 times a day as opposed to constantly grazing

Itsjustaride8w737 · 27/03/2021 20:53

Yes to sex!

I'm now 27 weeks with our dd and dh seems terrified to go near me!

GrandTheftWalrus · 27/03/2021 21:01

Getting to stop the fucking daily injections!

Jenny2330 · 27/03/2021 21:04

Sleeping on my front...being able to take meds for restless legs again. Not having aching pelvis. Not having people think its okay to touch my dam stomach. WINE!!

BrumBoo · 27/03/2021 21:14

Have wine and/or beer.

Eat whatever I want - especially brie. I don't ever crave brie until I'm pregnant.

Being able to deal with my 3 year old, who's currently an absolute nightmare to walk with. Often goes deadweight when walking and finding it impossible to pick him up with a baby living in my ribs.

Have a hot hot hot bath. With a load of bubbles/smellies.

Hope that my back will be marginally better. This pregnancy has triggered an old injury to the point it makes SPD seem like nothing. Some days the pain in my hip/lower back/upper glute has me in tears of pain.

On the flipside, not looking forward to having to do my share of cat litter cleaning again. I have 9 months of it being 'my turn'......

BrumBoo · 27/03/2021 21:16

Oh and coffee, all the damn coffee! Aldi's decaff is actually pretty damn good as a replacement but it's missing the 'keep me actually awake' aspect of coffee...

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/03/2021 21:22

I must say that disliking almost all of the banned food items / being vegetarian made pregnancy much easier for me. Grin

I missed choosing which way I slept. I’m a turner because I get severe hip pain if I lie on one side for too long. This was worse in pregnancy. Turning became a military mission of me sorting myself out in my pregnancy pillow. I do miss my pillow though. DH wouldn’t let me keep it in the bed with us. 😫

TheMagicDeckchair · 27/03/2021 21:34

I’m 32 weeks with twins...much as I want them cooking as long as possible up to 37 weeks, I am so over it now! Not planning any more after this. It will be a great feeling to put that behind me.

Looking forward to having as much caffeinated tea/coffee as I want. No more Pregnacare/Aspirin/Iron Tablets/Lactulose. Not having to shift 3st of bump whilst turning over in bed. Sleeping on my front. Baths with aromatherapy oils. Sharing the nice bottle of fizz I was saving for our anniversary, 2 weeks after I found out I was pregnant. Not having to do a thousand urine samples/attend hospital appointments. Being able to wear more than just the 5 outfits that currently fit me. A cool beer or glass of wine. No more heartburn. Being able to get out of bed in under 10 minutes. Being able to drive comfortably again. Having some bladder control!

Not looking forward to the night feeds for two though.

RunnerDuck2020 · 27/03/2021 22:02

I would just like to feel ‘well’ again for want of a better word. There’s always something wrong, whether it’s heartburn, backache, hip pain, stomach cramps, headaches, breathlessness etc. I can barely remember what it feels like to just feel normal.

Definitely getting back in shape and wearing nice clothes ... not sure how easy it would be to resume my previous exercise regime with a baby to look after but I would settle for being able to walk up the stairs without getting out of breath and having to sit down at the top as a starting point!

buckingmad · 28/03/2021 02:09

Not shotting gaviscon, riding my horse, lying on my back/front/however the heck I want, patê and steak, aperol spritz.

Oh and being able to roll over in bed without it feeling like my hips are dislocating.

CoalCraft · 28/03/2021 04:52

I was so looking forward to sleeping on my back! That's the one that really stuck with me. That and being able to eat whatever cheese and cured meat I wanted.

I'm now (trying to) wean from expressing milk and can't wait to have as much tea and fish as I want, to not have random inappropriate letdowns (just writing this had caused one, now I will have a damp pajama top - horrible!) and to not spending 2.5 hours a day pumping+ cleaning!
