To have a list of things I'm desperate to do after pregnancy?

First pregnancy was a doddle, not a minutes discomfort the whole 9 months...

This time, not so much!! I'm miserable, so to keep myself from becoming a depressed emotional mess I've been listing things to look forward to after pregnancy is a thing of the past.

Dieting (sounds ridiculous but being able to take control of my weight and get back to losing will do wonders for my well-being)

Gym/swimming

Having a glass of wine

Being able to wax downstairs without causing myself moderate to severe injury

Wearing a nice pair of heels

Being sterilised! (Another weird one I know but I'm having my tubes removed at the same time as delivery and I think it will be quite liberating to never have to touch hormonal contraceptives shake!)

What are you looking forward to after pregnancy? Or what things did you absolutely savour every second of once baby was born??

Steak and a glass of wine!
Also getting my body back; I didn’t put on any weight with my first DD but with my second baby I felt massive and it all sat on my face which didn’t suit the chubby look!

PurpleFlower1983 · 27/03/2021 19:50

Wine and cocktails.

Wine
Sleeping on my front
Not over analysing every little twinge in my body

DuggeeHugPlease · 27/03/2021 19:56

Wine, cocktails, gin

Going to exercise classes

Putting on shoes and socks myself easily

Spa day - technically it's lockdown rather than pregnancy that's stopped me doing this one but I'm not going to be able to do it now until baby is at least a few months old and I can't wait!

Tinydinosaur · 27/03/2021 19:59

Sleeping on my front. Standing up independently. Having a drink. Seeing my pubes. Comfortable sex.

Unfortunately I am a lover of everything bad for you in pregnancy. Scalding baths, front sleeping, too much alcohol, bleeding meat, cured meat, unpasteurised cheese, blue cheese...on the way back from my difficult first birth we stopped at a mini Tesco's and got pâté and wine and cheese. Well my hand did as I sobbed in the car

moreofalurker · 27/03/2021 20:01

Alcohol.
Sex.

Bloody wish my hands could nip to some shops independently of me for some treats

My due date is next Thursday. Looking forward to eating salami, having a cocktail, sleeping on my back/front and wearing regular clothes again (although that may take a while)

1sttimemumtobe2021 · 27/03/2021 20:06

Being able to buy/wear nice clothes ... really struggled to find nice maternity options.

Have had a bottle of champagne staring at me since December. Medium rare steak.

Sex has very much been on the back burner this pregnancy with morning sickness at the beginning and just feeling uncomfortable in the later stages, so just general intimacy with DP when I feel a bit more human after birth.

Curiosity101 · 27/03/2021 20:15

I think it's definitely Wine/Cocktails/Beer etc and getting control of my body back. I intend to breastfeed if possible so it'll be a long time until I truly get my body back. But being able to make decisions that only affect me will be lovely.

RizzleRazzle · 27/03/2021 20:16

I'm 34 weeks and have a long list of things I can't wait to do. As much as I love DD being nice and safe in there and my skin and hair being much better, the whole thing has been pretty awful!

I am looking forward to being able to shave my legs, to sleeping on my back or my front, being able to roll over in bed, dieting (not that I actually enjoy it but I lost 6 stone prior to getting pregnant and barely had time to enjoy my new size so looking forward to losing weight again)

Glitterazzi · 27/03/2021 20:19

What a great thread!

Am 39 weeks and now at the point where I can almost taste a glass of cold, crisp, dry white wine.

I'm looking forward to being more mobile as I have had crippling PGP this pregnancy.

Also looking forward to being able to lie flat on my back, front, upside down, whichever way I bloody well please to sleep. And to lying down without experiencing heartburn!!

Wearing clothes that look nice rather than just whatever fits. May take a while and have invested in more loungewear for the first few months...

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 27/03/2021 20:19

Sleeping on my back.

Being able to bend down/over without stomach acid coming up 😩

Sex in a non-awkward position.

And an enormous glass of wine! Alongside a baked Camembert and an entire french stick.

I’m enjoying the experience for the most part (I know it doesn’t sound like it) but if my husband could just take the pregnancy over for a night that’d be grand.

RizzleRazzle · 27/03/2021 20:19

Oh and I never want to taste Rennie or Gaviscon EVER again!

Ciderandskatesdontmix · 27/03/2021 20:20

I had my first meal planned out for after the birth of DD2... cider and pate!! I enjoyed it so much.

Beer, wine, exercise, getting back to a normal weight. Also all the things for after covid like seeing friends and going to pubs. It's going to be great!

That was meant to be a laughing emoji not the eye roll one lol!!!

I couldn't wait to sleep on my back or right side again after DC2. Also going for a full wee a few times a day, not small dribbles every half an hour.

NotATomato · 27/03/2021 20:33

After I had given birth a friend turned up with smelly cheese and wine. It was the best gift I received!Grin
