Oh I am surprised to read this! I had no idea my skinny jeans were now considered unfashionable and I'm not quite 30 yet Blush doesn't seem long ago I was choosing jeans in Levi's and they had lots of skinnies. What are the youngsters wearing now then?

I certainly hope the fake look disappears, slug eyebrows and lip fillers rarely look good on anyone.

MeepleMe · 26/03/2021 19:08

@Snowisfallinghere

Well, skinny jeans are already out but of course most of us are still wearing them, although I've stopped now as I don't find them comfy anymore. I wonder how long until they go from being established but not cutting edge fashion, to being properly dated looking. It's such a distinct silhouette, with the carrot shaped legs, I can see that look being very defining of the late 2000s and entire 2010s. It's already something that Gen Zs associate with being millennial fashion.

I'd like the word woke to stop being used (we get it, you don't like being progressive).

Why the hate for Eddie Izzard? They have raised lots of money for charity.

Honestly, this thread is just an excuse to be nasty to feel good about yourselves.

The thing is, jeans are so personal to shape. I suit skinny jeans and cigarette jeans. If they’re 3/4 or 7/8 length, then even better. I am a short pear, so that’s what works on me. I look about a stone heavier in mom jeans or anything baggy. So you will prise my skinnies out of my cold, dead hands.

Sleeve tattoos - ew

Duck face

The weird makeup trend where your face looks weirdly like it's made out of wood

Starting a sentence with 'so' or 'when (mundane thing) happens'

Cancel 'culture'

Nose rings - ew

Sleeve tattoos have been around for a very long time, they are a big part of some cultures, I can’t see then dying out. Same with nose rings, most of my friends had them in the 90s, sadly some still do.

I had to google duck face 🤦‍♀️ Totally agree with that one. What’s the weird wood makeup? I’ve never been a big makeup trend person, I still apply my eyeshadow like it’s 1992, so no idea what it is.

Cancel culture, definitely should go.

Dresses that look like you're wearing a duvet cover.

Vegans (joking, but does seem a bit of a fad... I know many people that have tried it, claiming its great. But then given up after a couple of weeks.)

MLMs, I think laws will be bought in to ban them and the huns can look back at their Facebook posts in years to come and cringe to high heaven haha

@Diverseopinions

I hope more cycle paths will be built, preferably away from traffic and car lanes, as it worries me a great deal when I see cyclists undertaking and risking lights; parents with contraptions for ferrying little ones fixed to the front or back of their bikes and heading forward along the inside of traffic. Electric scooters and roller skaters on busy roads worry me still more. I think the cyclists and scooterists are very vulnerable - especially with no helmets on.

I'm not a fan of cyclists mixing in with cars, and I think in future we may look back and feel that the vogue for mixing fuel/ electric powered cars with open and unprotected two-wheelers has just been too dangerous.

I've been cycling since I was a little kid (dad taught me). It's taken many years to end up with the cycle paths the UK has at this point. Where do you think all these extra cycle paths should be built?

Those contraptions: we had one of those trailers (still have it in our garage. Ours is made of the same material they made bumper bars with at that time, or the base is, with fabric tent-like thing on top). I didn't ride on the inside of traffic, though. I rode out in the lane (as per the way my dad taught me, and the British cycling org tells people to ride). If vehicles couldn't overtake safely, they waited. No one ever honked their horn, possibly because the bike trailer had "child on board" sign in it. Possibly also because my riding position made it clear I wasn't going to take any nonsense.

I rode my bike for years in heavy traffic. It was my only form of transport for many years, and there wasn't an alternative route. We shouldn't need alternative routes. Just more education for all road users, and more consideration. The only drivers who ever caused me problems were the asshats who thought it was acceptable to try and shove past me and shove me into the gutter at the same time. Which was why I rode a good way into the middle of the road. If they needed to overtake, they were going to do it properly.

What did Eddie Izzard do to piss people off? We like his work...

relaxingforme · 26/03/2021 19:21

@Susie477

The whole ‘fake/ Instababe’ look.

The heavy make-up, the Botox, the fake tan, the tattoos, the fillers, the lot. A move back to a much more natural look is already long overdue.

I hope!
Stellaris22 · 26/03/2021 19:21

Unfortunately I think it's obvious on this forum what Eddie Izzard did to get hate here.

People posing next to a chalkboard on Instagram with some kind of cheesy saying or “hilarious” observation..usually accompanied by a cutesy shrug or eye roll for the camera. Please just stop.

I love Chris and the disablist abuse he receives is disgusting.

@Okbye

Men wearing far too tight super skinny jeans with a ridiculously long crew neck T-shirt that’s about down to their knees. Finishing the outfit with a gross pair of slip on shoes and no socks. VOMIT 🤮

‘Brushed up’ eyebrows.

😂
ForeverAintEnough12 · 26/03/2021 19:23

I think this has turned into ‘things posters don’t like’ 😂

For me I think interiors trends of grey will definitely go. And also a rejection of over make up everyone covered in fake tan toward more individuality in makeup styles. I think there’s already a starting rebellion to all this.

What I also think but not in 5 years is that there will be a big backlash against social media and the invasive ness of the internet - maybe by the time today’s 4 year olds are teenagers
