When your neighbours have three children seven and over?

Adjoining properties.

Yeh absolutely fine, he's nuts.

sonjadog · 25/03/2021 21:29

Sounds normal to me. Also, surely it can't be going on for very long, unless you live in a mansion!

Workinghardeveryday · 25/03/2021 21:30

Knock on his door early on a morning and tell him kids are waking you up!!!!

It’s fine to Hoover at that time!!!

Pumpkintopf · 25/03/2021 21:34

Fine hoovering at that time.

What did you say when he knocked at your door to tell you to stop?

Can't believe he thought he could tell you (rather than making a polite request- would it be possible for you to...) what to do in your own house!

Disfordarkchocolate · 25/03/2021 21:38

It's fine. Tell him to pop round earlier and do it for you if it bothers him that much.

minniemoocher · 25/03/2021 21:41

It's fine, many people don't get home until 7pm. For noisy household jobs 9pm is about the cut off

maddiemookins16mum · 25/03/2021 21:41

It’s not that late but in over 30 years of running my own home, I’ve never hoovered of an evening.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 25/03/2021 21:41

He's an idiot, pay no attention to him. If he knocks again, tell him to take it up with the council. 😂

ItsMarch · 25/03/2021 21:42

@Chubbaibu

Dad came and knocked on the door to tell me to stop which has got my goat right up too.
That’s ridiculous.
littledrummergirl · 25/03/2021 21:42

Just say no problem and do it at 4.30 in the morning instead...

raincamepouringdown · 25/03/2021 21:43

ignore him and carry on vacuuming.

If they work during the day, when do you expect them to Hoover? That's not an unreasonable time and your children do not dictate everyone else's lives.
luxxlisbon · 25/03/2021 21:43

@maddiemookins16mum does it matter if you have never hoovered in the evening? Many people are out of the house all day and only have the evening.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/03/2021 21:45

No, it’s fine. What 7 yo gets to bed by that time? And can I have them in exchange for my 7 yo Grin

RedBricks01 · 25/03/2021 21:46

@ReceptacleForTheRespectable OP was the offending hoover-er!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/03/2021 21:46

@ReceptacleForTheRespectable the OP is the hooverer!

I’m not sure I’ve ever heart “got my goat right up” though Grin

Pollypudding · 25/03/2021 21:46

Well if you were hoovering for the whole hour between 6.30 and 7.30 YABU but if it was for 5-10 minutes then YANBU

I do quick run every evening. Takes few minutes. Started couple of years ago. My DH is now breathing much better. My sinuses don't flaire up either.
Lolwhat · 25/03/2021 23:38

I Hoover whenever I fancy🤣😳

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 25/03/2021 23:59

I’d say up to 9 pm is OK. If neighbour has very young child (baby, toddler) would be nice to stop at 8pm but not obliged to. If you were hoovering solidly for an hour that’s very long. I assume you mean 10 mins.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 26/03/2021 00:06

I get the urge to hoover at well past 9pm sometimes. We have wood flooring throughout the downstairs and I can't bare any grittyness under foot. Thankfully our neighbours dont give a shit 🤣

AnaisNun · 26/03/2021 00:12

I couldn’t care less about hoovering

My neighbour who teaches online Zumba on a wooden floor between 9am and fucking MIDNIGHT every single night can get in a bin though.

She knows I have a toddler, she knows we can hear, and she persists.

So I’ve stopped telling DS to keep it down when he’s up early. I know it’s childish but ZUMBA. On a wooden floor. Online. Sometimes for five hours on the trot.

I wish she’d just hoover.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 26/03/2021 00:16

I LOL'd hard.

Who even does Zumba at midnight though wtf?! 🙈

XenoBitch · 26/03/2021 00:21

Is it after 7am and before 11pm? hoover away? Years ago, my neighbour moaned on his FB that I was hoovering on and off in the middle of the day and disturbing his music recording. I had the use of a carpet cleaner... you use them on and off as you have to empty tanks etc.

AnaisNun · 26/03/2021 00:23

@MyGrassIsBrowner

I’d love to know.

I suspect it’s international classes.

Which means she’s not only noisy but she’s clearly GOOD at it, and has built up a client base and is probably raking it in, so now I’m going to have to live life to a Shakira soundtrack.

Which would be totally fine if I hadn’t put on 3 stone in the last 12 months. If just feels like I’m being taunted.
