To think women with small feet still enjoy walking?!

Over lockdown I’ve been trying to get out there and be more active and have been enjoying some lovely walks. I’d like to increase the distances and thought I’d treat myself to a decent pair of walking boots rather than just my trainers.

Can I find a pair smaller than a size 4? Nope!!! I’m a 3 which limits me to children’s boots which all seem to be pink or just not my style. AIBU to think that size 3 is not actually an unusual shoe size?

If anyone knows of anywhere I’d get some walking boots in my size feel free to point me in the right direction.

Sorry for the rant, everything seems like a big deal at the minute!

Try go outdoors. They have a great range of varying prices and suitability for different walking terrains

Flowerysocks · 26/03/2021 12:19

I take a size 3. I hate it when ranges start at size 4. My walking boots came from Sports Direct (adults). Hotter and Pavers have a good range of all types of footwear in small sizes.

ShortColdandGrey · 26/03/2021 12:20

I feel your pain but I am a size 2 and can't find decent trail running shoes to fit my tiny feet. It is so frustrating when it comes to finding decent shoes/boots.

bluetongue · 26/03/2021 12:32

Size 3 is Euro size 36 right?

If so I have the same size feet. Often the smallest women’s joggers are too big for me.

For some reason I decided to take up skiing despite my small and weirdly shaped feet. I have to buy the smallest sized women’s ski boots.

I was a size 3 when I was fitted for my boots in Snow and Rock Covent Garden (had been lots of places before) they are Scarpa, an Italian brand. the label is faded so I can’t see the original Italian or UK but I can see USA 5.5 which translates to 3.5 UK.

I got a pair of boys timberlands from TK Maxx for a bargain price! When the shops reopen that's where I would suggest.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 26/03/2021 12:40

Kids Merrel moab are just the adult ones, and come in a range of colours (sure there is a plain black one.) Usually some good deals to be had on amazon.

murbblurb · 26/03/2021 12:43

Sounds like you are trapped by the ' if it is designed for women , make it shit' policy. My size 8 pluses mean I can buy men's walking shoes and boots which are fit for purpose. Nothing sold for women ever is.

Perhaps the boys range from mountain warehouse?

ZarkingBell · 26/03/2021 12:51

My boys' feet are adult sized now but I never had any problem getting walking boots from normal outlets. Just looked like normal walking boots. And much cheaper!

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 26/03/2021 12:53

Yes size 3 is very unusual for an adult woman in the UK.

Igotmylipstickon · 26/03/2021 13:00

I think you should try on a size 4 as well. I had always been a size 3, however in the past few years, many brands seem to be making sizes smaller - when I buy Sketchers or Nike trainers, for example, I need a size 4. However my foot size hasn't changed as my older size 3 shoes still fit! I usually buy a size 4 in boots now and put in a insole if they are a little big.

Echobelly · 26/03/2021 13:03

You can get non pink size 3 in Decathlon - I know this from buying them from my not-a-pink-fan daughter.

Chanjer · 26/03/2021 13:08

I'm a bloke with size 6 feet and most shops don't stock that size. It's one size too big for kids shoes and one size too small for adults. It's great now with internet shopping though but buying shoes, especially smart shoes, used to be a pretty disappointing process

ginghamtablecloths · 26/03/2021 13:11

I'm the same size OP. I believe that size 3 has been downgraded since I was a young 'un. When I was young (and size 2 1/2) I'd be shunted between the children's and the ladies' department as the former stopped at 2 and the latter began at 3.

The last dead comfy trainer-type shoes I bought were from Tesco and they're fast wearing out.

JaneJeffer · 26/03/2021 13:12

Regatta do a size 3.

makesIlaugh · 26/03/2021 15:34

I have the opposite issue, size 9. Have to buy men's which are only brown or black Sad

Pushkinia · 26/03/2021 15:44

I'm a size 2 so I know exactly what you're going through. I managed to find a pair of walking shoes in Blacks (size 3 but they're quite a small fit anyway). Not the most comfortable shoes though, I'm still looking for a pair that are really comfortable. I usually wear Pavers or Hotter for regular shoes.

Backtoreality1 · 26/03/2021 15:47

Try Columbia or Jack Wolfskin...both available in 3s and really nice quality. My mum has bought them recently in the sales and she is a 3.

rosiejaune · 26/03/2021 16:10

YABU; only 2% of European women have size 3 feet, so yes it is uncommon (whereas 15% have size 8 feet).
