To think women with small feet still enjoy walking?!

Over lockdown I’ve been trying to get out there and be more active and have been enjoying some lovely walks. I’d like to increase the distances and thought I’d treat myself to a decent pair of walking boots rather than just my trainers.

Can I find a pair smaller than a size 4? Nope!!! I’m a 3 which limits me to children’s boots which all seem to be pink or just not my style. AIBU to think that size 3 is not actually an unusual shoe size?

If anyone knows of anywhere I’d get some walking boots in my size feel free to point me in the right direction.

Sorry for the rant, everything seems like a big deal at the minute!

Glad others have recommended Decathlon
Their womens footwear starts at a 3

I have size 3 feet and my walking boots are Peter Storm. IIRC they are a 4 but they came up small and I wanted to be able to get one thick/two thin pairs of socks in them. Had a quick look at their website and their children's range looks pink-free (I feel your pain on that one!)

Cocomarine · 25/03/2021 22:00

Just buy from boys’ range: no pink. I always did for one of my daughters as she hated everything for girls having to have pink!

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 25/03/2021 22:01

In fact, having looked at the website further, I have these: www.peterstorm.com/380745/peter-storm-kids-buxton-walking-shoe-16052549 which makes me wonder whether I bought children's ones originally.

I bought them years ago and they're very comfortable!

I'm a 2.5. I have Crocs winter boots from seven years ago still going strong. They have a black pair in the sale and I'm thinking of buying them for when mine die. They are totally waterproof (think walk through puddle waterproof) and so toasty and have seen me walk probably over a thousand miles by now. Best shoes ever.

LadyCatStark · 25/03/2021 22:06

We have the same in the opposite direction for DS. Boys’ walking boots finish at a size 3 and men’s’ start at a 7. DS is a 5 so I’ve had to buy him womens’ ones in blue and purple.

Shoppingwithmother · 25/03/2021 22:28

These are kids ones (so cheap!) but look like proper walking boots and not a kid style.
I’d like them myself, but I have the opposite problem as I’m a size 8-9!

I’m a 3. I buy kids ones. If you don’t like glitter and pink, try the “boy” section!

MadKittenWoman · 26/03/2021 10:34

I have size 1 1/2 feet. I get walking boots from Decathlon or any good outdoor shop.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/03/2021 10:45

Have you tried any on? They usually recommend that you size up for walking boots, so a size 3 would be worn by someone with size 2-2.5 feet, which will apply to very very few adult women.

RLJ1905 · 26/03/2021 10:46

Jack Wolfskin is a German brand. They are fantastic. I have a pair of hiking boots and they are incredibly comfortable and supportive. The colours are lovely too.

They have size 3s

RLJ1905 · 26/03/2021 10:48

Two examples available in size 3..

I recently bought some size 3 walking boots plain grey and not childlike at all from ebay.

I didn't struggle with this at all. I also seen a lot of options on Amazon if that helps.

Confusedandshaken · 26/03/2021 11:26

I bought Skechers walking boots from QVC in a 3.

UserTwice · 26/03/2021 11:29

I'm a size 9, so the opposite problem (you have to buy mens' boots which are normally cut wider, so it's a long search to find ones that fit).

However, a brief search on the Go Outdoors site reveals 15 styles of walking boots in a size 3, only 2 of which have any pink (and even then it's pretty subtle).

Happycat1212 · 26/03/2021 11:29

Jealous of everyone with such tiny feet, I’m a size 8 😖

Chanjer · 26/03/2021 11:30

Meindl go down to size 2 i think, but I doubt they'll be in stock anywhere except direct from meindl

nettie434 · 26/03/2021 11:31

Camper is another option as the company started out in Spain so their sizes start at 3.

I've got a pair of Timberland boots that I'd love to offer you! Small size 4 and I can't get them on.

karmakameleon · 26/03/2021 11:38

Agree with people saying try a four. I’m a three for normal shoes but always buy walking boots in a four to allow room for thick socks.

ThatsNotTheTeaHunty · 26/03/2021 11:53

If you actually go on proper websites for walking/outdoor gear it's not hard to find a pair of smaller walking boots that aren't pink.
I also don't think 3 is that small or maybe we just have smaller feet in my family.

FontyMcFontface · 26/03/2021 11:59

I think size 3 is an unusual size for an adult. However my dd is 11 with size 9 feet and has the issue of not being able to get ladies’ shoes. Her feet are also really narrow and men’s walking boots just don’t fit well.

I would have expected that you could find walking boots in the kids’ range, in the boys’ section if pink isn’t for you? I wonder whether kids’ boots aren’t as hard wearing because they don’t wear them for as long?

TheOrigRights · 26/03/2021 12:00

AIBU to think that size 3 is not actually an unusual shoe size?

For an adult, yes I do think this is unusual.

I guess if you end up paying over the odds for an adult pair in that size you can justify it by having saved over the years by being able to buy children's shoes.

The trial of having average sized feet is that you rarely get really good deals in the sales.

BashfulClam · 26/03/2021 12:04

Mountain warehouse have decent boots www.mountainwarehouse.com/trail-waterproof-kids-boots-p29328.aspx/black/

HowManyToes · 26/03/2021 12:07

I feel your pain, I’m slightly smaller than a 3, more like a 2.5. My walking boots are kids from Peter storm. Black and yellow, look just like the adult ones (apart from the name label on the inside which my husband thinks is hilarious!)

I buy all my shoes from the kids dept, it’s not really a hassle and they’re much cheaper. The only time it’s a problem is when I’m looking for high heels for fancy occasions.
