As the original word is baby... It's Baba! Hate the sound of this Bubba nonsense... It's not a Bubble... 😉😂

They’re both horrid. Use “baby”. It’s up there with grown women referring to other grown women as mama.

emilyfrost · 23/03/2021 11:51

They’re both awful.

Or girls.
Alwayswrongneverright · 23/03/2021 11:59

I hate bubba, reminds me of redneck Americans living in a trailer!! 😂 😂 😂 I call my kids baba, and girls... You'd all hate me!! 😂 😂 😂

Chillychangchoo · 23/03/2021 12:02

I call my kids bab, but I’m allowed as I’m a Coventrian 😉.

burritofan · 23/03/2021 12:02

Me n hubba gunna have a bubba, wait it’s twins so a dubble bubba.

(Baba is also awful, if it helps.)

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 23/03/2021 12:04

They're all awful and vomit-inducing tbh.

FlatEarthling · 23/03/2021 12:05

Me and the hubster took bubs on holibobs.

Bells3032 · 23/03/2021 12:09

I use Bubba as I am Jewish and its short for Bubulah which means "little one" in Yiddish. I think a lot of people may have gotten it from that via american TV

WonkyCactus · 23/03/2021 12:09

Depends where you are surely? It's definitely mum and bub in Australia.

alanpartridgefromtheoasthouse · 23/03/2021 12:18

"Horrid" is as bad as "bubba" in my opinion. We're not little girls.

KoalaLlama · 23/03/2021 12:34

I really hate ‘bubba’ and ‘bubs’ - both so grim!

Plumbear2 · 23/03/2021 12:38

I don't say either. But baba is what my grandmother called poo so baba just sounds all kinds of wrong.

thecatandthevicar · 23/03/2021 12:39

I think before embarrassing yourself, you can research the word and realise it IS Bubba even if you don't like it. You can use Baba/Babba if you prefer, no one cares.
Lighthearted of course.

herbivore15 · 23/03/2021 12:42

Bub is a really common nickname for babies in Australia. I use it for my DD. Smile

MindyStClaire · 23/03/2021 12:43

Oh dear OP. You didn't try for a light-hearted thread on affectionate slang did you?

Besides, YABVU - it's babby.

daryldixonsdreamgirl · 23/03/2021 12:53

I agree with a PP. It can be shortened if you are Jewish to bubba from bubula/bubbaleh.

RaspberrySocks · 23/03/2021 13:35

@MindyStClaire you can betcha Babba I did! I'm sticking with it... I'm not Jewish so the abbreviation of Bubba isn't required 😉

Nekoness · 23/03/2021 13:43

It’s not Baba. Baba means grandma/older than woman (Baba Yaga is over a hundred year old folk tale). and in certain Central European countries, today it’s used as slang for “women” in general, especially younger women. You’d look like an utter twit calling a baby Baba.

TheBigBaboon · 23/03/2021 13:47

Dad in Chinese is also Bubba.

CornishPastyDownUnder · 23/03/2021 13:48

I really hate Bub and Bubba-had my DC in Oz and everyone(Doctor, Midwives, parents) use Bub...there is no escaping it over here!

Wingedharpy · 23/03/2021 13:57

@Nekoness : Interesting.
In Arabic, Baba means Father, Grandfather, wise old man!
My DBIL, is Baba to his children and Grandchildren.

I hate mama!! I'm pregnant and this makes me fucking cringe.
Suzi888 · 23/03/2021 14:07

It IS bubba 🤣
