What is in the picture?

Not aibu but this has been bugging me for over a year!

Without giving any context, I was wondering what people see (if anything) in the yellow circle.

I will come back and give context but just curious what people think it is or might be?

First pictrue is the original, Second has been lightened to see if it makes it any clearer.

First pic - Les Dawson.

Second pic - Just a spot of light on the stone wall inside the archway.

I would have said man with moustache and hat at a jaunty angle!

I originally thought it looked like a man in a hood (a monk?) but now I see the whole picture and the height of the 'face' I think it must be a baby monk.

Yes, just like @Pesimistic described. It's actually quite clearly a hand holding a cigarette when you download the photo and look at it on a decent sized screen, not a phone. And the weird little brighter spot in the middle of the "forehead" is clearly the circular end/cross-section of the cigarette. Your mum is a sneaky social smoker OP
