To ask why on earth I've been offered the vaccine??

Not that im complaining of course!! Just wondering if I've missed something here...

I am 25..no underlying health conditions..not a healthcare worker, carer etc. I was offered the jab yesterday via a text from my GP (definitely real as have previous messages saved).

Could this be a mistake? I don't know whether to go ahead and book, I don't feel I deserve one yet haha! I haven't been following the vaccination criteria as I didn't expect to get one for ages.

Any ideas why this has happened?

I would just go for it as most have said.

I do know a few people who have found out about health conditions they never knew they had through this!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 20/03/2021 22:31

I agree with not telling all and sundry though! Not worth it at all!

They are just getting through some categories faster in some areas. I have just had mine today, am mid 40s, no underlying health conditions that would push me up the criteria, same as Dh who also had his today.

Our GP practice sent a text on Thursday, all of Saturday at the surgery is Covid vaccinations. One every 4 minutes. It was done with military precision, all the GP rooms were open with someone in there vaccinating. We had a lovely pharmacist do ours, Dh and I went in together even though we had different people booked to administer them.

Take the jab.

Jesus. Some people are so touchy. It's like you have to prove you have a a good enough reason to post on mumsnet. OP is just putting the feelers out to see why she could have possibly been offered the vaccine.

To be fair OP. I'm 36 and I got my text on Tuesday offering me the jab. I had it on Thursday. I have no underlying conditions apart from being slightly overweight. Just go for it if it's being offered.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 20/03/2021 22:38

I’ve had mine today. I had a text last week saying I had an under lying health condition. I have no idea what said condition is but I booked anyway!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 20/03/2021 22:39

Should add in 32 so was expecting to be last in the list

noblegreenk · 20/03/2021 23:09

I had my vaccine today and had similar thoughts. I've concluded that it may be due to the age demographic of my area, which has a predominantly young population. So i would imagine that my local surgery has probably vaccinated all of the older age groups and more vulnerable people already.

Welcome to the 'Vaccinated Club!' Grin

@littlepattilou 'club', love it!

Yes just take it if it's offered. I don't give a shit about the adverse press, it has been developed by well meaning professionals and is our best chance of getting out of this.

Even if it is part of Bill Gates and 5G cunning masterplan it still means it's our best chance of getting out of this Wink

I'm in the vaccinated club!

So I've got a Bill Gates microchip implanted in my brain

At least I'll be able to go on holiday somewhere abroad this summer Grin

purplebagladylovesgin · 20/03/2021 23:49

Are you in Gloucestershire or Bristol? I've heard they are vaccinating everyone quickly as the resistant variant has been detected.
