shuz1980 · 20/03/2021 07:51

Would ibu to not going into work today because of a really heavy period. I had coil removed a few days ago and period is so heavy im soaking through pads. If i go ill be having to go to the bathroom every 15 minutes to change pad. Im also tired with the amount of blood im losing. Is an heavy period reason enough to call in sick?

I think so.

CreosoteQueen · 20/03/2021 07:52

Absolutely a good enough reason. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

MaMaD1990 · 20/03/2021 07:53

Only you cab make that call I'm afraid. If you feel like you couldn't do your job properly or can't physically get there, don't go in. If you're undecided, maybe go in and see how you get on?

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 20/03/2021 07:53

Yes. Stay home.

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 20/03/2021 07:56

YANBU. Absolutely stay at home.
I’ve never had a coil - if the bleeding doesn’t slow down maybe seek some professional advice?
Hope things improve and you feel better. Brew Cake

YANBU - you are uncomfortable and feel unwell, take the day off! I sympathise Thanks

Cottagepieandpeas · 20/03/2021 07:58

Yes definitely stay home. That much bleeding will make you feel awful and also it’s a nightmare to spend the whole day paranoid about leaking. Flowers

RMRM · 20/03/2021 08:00

Stay at home, but seek medical advice. I've never had a coil removed, but I'd be worried about that amount of bleeding. I hope you're OK.

Alexandernevermind · 20/03/2021 08:01

I was going to be blunt and tell you not to be so silly, you can't have a day off once a month because of your period. However in your case the bleeding is excessive.
If you are bleeding that heavily do you need to tell your doctor, or is this a normal part of removing a coil?

RampantIvy · 20/03/2021 08:02

If you need to change a pad every 15 minutes I think you should seek medical help.

ElizaLaLa · 20/03/2021 08:02

You wouldn't question it if it was diarrea. I can't spell that and predictive text is no help. Why question yourself because it's a problem that only affects women?

8bitgame · 20/03/2021 08:03

Totally stay at home. I struggled on once and bled all over a white chair in the boss’s office. Hope you feel better soon.

Doona · 20/03/2021 08:03

Of course!

shuz1980 · 20/03/2021 08:03

Thank you everyone Thanks im just a stress head and didn't want work thinking im just being a drama queen phoning in sick for a 'heavy period'.

Doona · 20/03/2021 08:03

I mean, of course take care of yourself. YANBU

ragtimeloves · 20/03/2021 08:04

seepingweeping · 20/03/2021 08:07

Stay home op.

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 20/03/2021 08:08

If you’re soaking through heavy flow pads every 15 minutes you need to seem medical help. That’s not normal

Tinabn · 20/03/2021 08:10

Your work needs to be told you are having a worrying reaction to a medical procedure, it’s not a heavy period. Take care.

swishswashswoosh · 20/03/2021 08:10

Removing the coil should not cause any more bleeding than normal. Were you due your period now anyway? This is a medical problem not a 'heavy period'. Having to change pads every 15minutes is a haemorrhage, please seek medical help!

saraclara · 20/03/2021 08:12

Yes, if you're not exaggerating, then you're haemorraging badly and need help now. Losing that much blood every 15 minutes puts you in danger.

If you are exaggerating, go to work.

crankysaurus · 20/03/2021 08:13

I agree, if one of my team came in like that I'd send them back home to the GP or NHS 111. That sounds like excessive bleeding.
