Inspired by a thread on here this week where people were saying they were struggling & felt flat I wondered what people have found that’s helped?

I’m trying to pull myself out of the hole and have started listening to music more but I’m at a bit of a loss as to what else to do.

The thread made me feel like I wasn’t alone so was hoping we’d be able to help each other?

Any ideas?

DIY, walking dogs, music, wine and a change in diet to cut out gluten and diary for a while.

I feel lighter and happier within a week, but still have a the odd grouch!!

I have started doing more outdoor exercise. Over Christmas and as this lockdown started I found I was avoiding being outside because of the cold. I started forcing myself out and I feel much better for it. The recent sunshine is really helping too. I have also cut right back on drinking.

Cutting out alcohol - I've been dry the whole of this month so far and I'm so well rested, getting proper sleep and have more energy.

Also reading, yoga/mindfulness, crochet, journalling and weekly ballet class Smile

25mg of Sertraline, it's a tiny dose but it has been nothing short of a miracle of ridding me of horrible anxiety, I no longer have what I can only describe as a constant fluttering of evil butterflies in my stomach

Walking, cuddling and playing with my amazing dogs, watching them play and get up to mischief together warms my heart

Walking the dogs with my lovely DH, having dogs means you have to go out in any weather, I love walking in the rain

Exercise 4-5 times a week without fail. Keeping it varied for both body and mind, so HITT, heavy weights, running, mountain biking

Daily yoga, I love Yin, particularly good if you have a stressful computer based job!

Only drinking alcohol at the weekends and only a couple of glasses (of v good red)

Eating a mainly plant based diet but I do have full fat Greek yogurt and eat cheese every day

Drinking a green juice packed with healthy veg and spirulina, chia, turmeric, etc etc every day

Vit D, magnesium, good quality hair and nail vitamins

I have a Beauty Pie sub and love using the skin products, my skin looks really good, glowing :)

This thread is split between drink! and give up the drink! Grin

For me my mood has been improved by:

  • Getting back to work.
  • Making progress on home renovations/DIY.
  • Going out for day trips to nice places now that the sun is shining again (no, I don't pay any mind to the "stay local" regulations).
  • trying my best to eat well and
  • conversely, the new cake shop that has opened locally!

Drinking water before coffee in the morning, getting out for a walk or doing some yoga and mindfulness.

Some days find I just have to accept how I'm feeling and go with it instead of fight it and that actually helps once my own expectations of myself have changed.
