Invited for vaccine but not sure why - would you take it ?

If you were called and invited for vaccine but you weren’t sure why (under 40, no obvious health issues bar GDD with previous pregnancy) would you take the vaccine?? Voicemail saying referral has been made to book in with them is from the mass vaccination centre not the GP.

My view on balance is take it when offered and don’t be a martyr and refuse or question it too much.

Yes. One less person to be done.

HerRoyalNotness · 19/03/2021 14:17

Yes!
I was invited but can’t get to the centre it’s being offered at just now

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 19/03/2021 14:20

It's the GDD but don't cause messy admin by not taking it! Just go and get it done as it needs doing. Questioning it and having to go back on another list just wastes everyone's time and energy.

pointythings · 19/03/2021 14:21

It'll be the GDD - puts you at risk of developing Type 2, which is often asymptomatic.

Go ahead and take it, you'll be protecting yourself and people around you.

SealSong · 19/03/2021 14:22

Yes of course

Heartofglass12345 · 19/03/2021 14:28

Yes go for it. Where I am, the GP is doing group 6, and group 7 are being invited to vaccination centres

thepeopleversuswork · 19/03/2021 14:30

Of course. Why on earth wouldn't you?

MarshaBradyo · 19/03/2021 14:31

Yes it’s more irritating to reschedule

littlepattilou · 19/03/2021 14:32

Definitely take it! I would!

SnackSizeRaisin · 19/03/2021 14:32

If you have had previous gestational diabetes you are at increased risk from covid, so that is the reason.

TonTonMacoute · 19/03/2021 14:38

Yes, of course you should. The more people vaccinated the better for everyone!

partyatthepalace · 19/03/2021 14:42

Yes - just take it. It's a mass vaccination programme for millions of people - some will get called early - questioning it just slows down the system.

Schoolisback1973 · 19/03/2021 14:44

I didn't expect to be called. I am 48 (no major health issues). I took it

Ellpellwood · 19/03/2021 14:46

I have been called - 36, no GDD, although I have had pneumonia so I can only think it's that? BMI is 24 I think. Anyway I shot onto the website and booked it.

Redglitter · 19/03/2021 14:48

I don't understand the number of people questioning whether or not to take the vaccine just because they don't think its their turn. If you get the call/letter to go. Just go. It doesn't matter if you think you're in the wrong group- just take it & be glad you're that bit closer to normality

LegendDairy · 19/03/2021 14:56

Yes, its more hard work to try and correct your place in the queue.

Tappetytap · 19/03/2021 14:58

Ive just had my vaccine this morning. I'm in 30s with no health issues whatsoever (and have never had any). I thought they'd made a mistake but no, they said they are ahead in my area and my group have been asked. Go for it!

Calpolforever · 19/03/2021 15:01

Yes, take it! Each person vaccinated benefits society as a whole

Starlive23 · 19/03/2021 15:03

My DH is only 40, has no medical conditions and got called last week. We just took the view of a PP and thought well its one more working person vaccinated so it can't be a bad thing. Still not sure why he was called up for it yet but its not going to harm anyone so why not.

Ellpellwood · 19/03/2021 15:08

I do understand the concern to be honest - more generally than about vaccine priority. My text said "due to your underlying health condition" and it is a bit disconcerting when you realise something is in your records but you don't know what!

TurquoiseDress · 19/03/2021 15:14

Yes definitely just get it booked & take it!

I think there was a glitch or something recently so women who'd had gestational diabetes in the past were then classed as high risk so were invited for the jab

I would just get it done now if I were in your shoes

pinknsparkly · 19/03/2021 15:17

You are correctly in the queue - I got a shielding letter and told I would be given early vaccination. Both were due to having had GDD. My GP removed me from the shielding list, but said I would still be eligible for early vaccination and that was correct. As previous posters have said, even without having developed Type II diabetes, having had GDD we are more vulnerable to the side effects of covid.

Flippyferloppy · 19/03/2021 15:17

Go. The sooner everyone is done, the better. I'm jealous (not in the UK and likely to be waiting until at least June)

KatherineJaneway · 19/03/2021 15:18

To try and refuse will just add to their admin. Get the jab.

Ashmarie · 19/03/2021 15:41

I just got my invite this morning - mid 20s with no underlying conditions. It seems best to just go ahead to avoid the extra admin it will cause, but I am curious why I have been invited now.. My parents (both early 50s) haven’t even had theirs yet! I wonder if it’s an error.
