Doesn’t like any vegetables at all?
I was just watching a video about a man who wanted to find recipes he could eat that don’t contain vegetables as he doesn’t like any veg.

I mean come on.. there’s as many flavours in different vegetables as there are colours in the world.. yet he would proclaim to ‘hate all colours’

I just don’t get it. Kids I sort of understand; especially when they descend from fussy parents. But I just think ‘grow up’ when I read about adults not touching vegetables. I’m not talking about “I don’t like broccoli or carrots” - won’t eat vegetables at all.

And the “salad? Do I look like a rabbit?” Slur that comes from people

Who won’t eat anything remotely green or healthy, that saying really boils my piss. Just say no thank you?!

I know IABU as it’s none of my business but it just made me roll my eyes and would be interested to hear others opinions on it.

I was also brought up on freezer food, I cannot remember any vegetable except carrots being on my plate as a child. My sister and brother are the same, I'm trying to venture out in what I eat and I went vegetarian in the new year so I've had to, but it takes some getting used to. Luckily my children aren't fussy and love most veg!

@NotACompleterFinis

We're conditioned to eat vegetables from an early age. No child eats vegetables by choice and they're entirely unnecessary for a healthy diet. There's lots of evidence out there if you can be bothered to look for it. Those of us have found it out of necessity because fruit and veg make us I'll. You keep taking them out of your diet til there's only animal fat and meat left. And you've never felt better, ever. I've never been so angry when I discovered the lies we've all been fed about nutrition. You won't believe me obvs.
Can you show some evidence please? You say it’s there. I’m sure you will find it quicker than the rest of us.

Well I disagree. My son used to have a problem with meat. When I weaned him, all he liked was puréed cauliflower. He always loved his fruit and veg, but especially veg. It wasn't conditioning. I offered him a wide variety of food.
StanfordPines · 19/03/2021 22:54

If we should only be eating meat why do we have molars? Other obligate carnivores don’t.

GrandTheftWalrus · 19/03/2021 23:07

@Kendodd my ex husband would only eat macaroni cheese or a cheese pizza for Christmas Dinner.

FoxyTheFox · 19/03/2021 23:10

Youngest son has Yorkshire pudding and a little bit of turkey for his Christmas Dinner, no gravy, no thank you on everything else.

CounsellorTroi · 19/03/2021 23:20

I was very picky as a child. I remember having a packet of roast chicken crisps for my Christmas dinner once. What really sorted me out was going on school trip to France where we stayed with French families. I just ate everything that was put in front of me because I didn't like to refuse it.

What a load of bollocks in one post!

Trying to say that fruit and veg are completely unnecessary for a healthy diet is like saying it’s a myth that sugar causes tooth decay.

Shewhomustbeobeyed1 · 20/03/2021 00:29

Have friend whose done won’t eat vegetables. Turns out to be on the spectrum.

00deed1988 · 20/03/2021 00:36

My husband is a reluctant veg eater. I have managed to get some into him over the last 10 years but before we got together he wouldn't touch any, his brother still will not touch any at all.

They are both colourblind and a couple of years ago I read on a support site that many colourblind people refuse to eat veg as it all looks a similar colour (different shades of what we would call brown) on the plate and it is meant to look revolting and puts them off as children and then extends to adulthood.

Without being able to see through his eyes I don't know how true it is but he agrees with it but didn't quite realise it until I mentioned it.

Thankfully our kids are not colourblind and eat a variety and I am slowly but surely slipping in more to his diet!

Ddot · 20/03/2021 03:01

Wow only eating meat, how do you get your toilet pipes to work

BluntlySpoken · 20/03/2021 03:13

My ex wouldn't touch veg
Anything like bolognese, chilli or anything
No fruit
No salad

It was like dating a child... I can't eat an onion it's like a slug.!
I can't eat peas it's like bogies

He ate, sausages, eggs, bacon, joints of meat, mash and roast potatoes, paxo, Yorkshire, burgers, processed chicken products. Bread

1 meal would be 8 sausages, and a whole 2kg bag of spuds mashed with a jug of gravy

He was very un healthy and massively over Weight
I feel sick when I think of the sheer quantity of food he would eat.
Bacon sarnies, half aoaf of bread minimum!

Ddot · 20/03/2021 03:48

🤢

Ddot · 20/03/2021 04:02

Love kale, cauliflower, frozen peas but have to be certain brand and like them heated up not cooked. I have allotment so grow and freeze most of it. Vegetable soup, bean stew, meat free lasagna.

Bodynegative · 20/03/2021 06:33

@Sixdegreesofseparation

Boils my piss has to be one of the ugliest terms you could choose to use Hmm just sayin
Was that really necessary? It's a commonly used expression in some parts of the country and rather descriptive. I suggest you brush up your Shakespeare... he was well known for his inventive and often gross insults.
KatherineJaneway · 20/03/2021 06:50

I know lots of people who wouldn’t eat chicken wings because they don’t like skin and fat on meat. I think chicken wings are quite an acquired taste really. Not something I’d choose to eat?

I did eat chicken legs as a child but now I only eat breast meat. Even my cats won't eat leg meat, I just find it too greasy and don't like the taste. Not sure why I changed.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 20/03/2021 07:24

Trying to say that fruit and veg are completely unnecessary for a healthy diet is like saying it’s a myth that sugar causes tooth decay.

It’s actually not. Several cultures only ate (past tense because the world is a smaller place) meat. However their meat sources were varied and included eating all parts of the animal especially the liver..
Just eating muscle from a supermarket selection won’t give you what you need. Eating processed meat products and carbs is possibly the worst of all.

Ddot · 20/03/2021 07:28

Oh shut up, eat your veg or ya ain't getting any pudding

NotACompleterFinis · 20/03/2021 07:31

@Ddot

Ddot you're gonna love this - fruit and veg not required for pipes to work, in fact they block everything up😊. As I said I don't expect anyone to believe me, but it's out there if anyone wants to make use of the information and pretty much heal IBS, constipation, inflammation, brain fog, arthritis - the list is endless...
RampantIvy · 20/03/2021 07:50

Are you referring to the FODMAP diet @NotACompleterFinis?

MrsKoala · 20/03/2021 08:45

That’s interesting to read. My veg refusing boys are colour blind. However, it has its advantages when sneaking veg in their food, I have found I can hide chopped frozen spinach into burgers and cheese omelettes as the green looks brown to them.

Vegeetas · 20/03/2021 08:55

Bloke here just to chip in, I like most veg but I've yet to find a single fruit that makes me go "wow, this will totally replace sweet treats" etc.

My mothers cooking was awful when I was growing up to the point where I considered microwave meals gormet standard by comparison. That and my step dad forced everyone to go vege / vegan.

I will also say that the wonderful woman (mother) gave me so many damned food issues it's a wonder I actually eat anything. Rare steak is obiously still raw and will make me ill was one of her wonderful lessons that I heard ad nauseum.

Deadringer · 20/03/2021 10:08

Even if you could just eat meat and be healthy why would you want to? I don't enjoy veg but i like a bit of colour and variety of textures on my plate.

NotACompleterFinis · 20/03/2021 10:34

@Deadringer

The key Deadringer is the healthy bit. Why would I want to be healthy? I think that answers itself. If you eat fruit and veg a feel totally healthy then that's fine. But if you're not healthy - despite eating a healthy diet then you start to look elsewhere. What you find is that all assumptions around food are turned on their head. You don't crave colour and variety and texture in your food if you eat animal fats and meat. You can't imagine the amount of headspace that clears because meal planning and prep isn't a thing anymore.
Kendodd · 20/03/2021 11:15

@NotACompleterFinis
You didn't answer my question up thread, do you really only eat meat? Do you cook it or have it raw? What does a typical days meals look like?
