My 13 year old daughter has today been told by a 13 year old boy in her year, 'fuck off you immigrant, you fucking Somalian immigrant, go back to your own fucking country.'

Why? Because he wouldn't let her pass in the corridor to get to the lunch hall and she asked him and his 5 friends (all also blocking her path), to move. They refused so she went around them and this was his response.

My daughter is Indian. She reported the incident, the boys own FRIENDS confirmed he had said this to her and then the school called me.
He will be 'sanctioned'. I may well impose my own sanction by contacting the Police.

So there we have it ladies and gents, 2021 is no different to the 80's and 90's when I was at school being told the same thing.

OP posts:

Racist abuse in any school has to be reported to the LEA, it's in every school's behaviour policy. If they don't do this they are not following the protocol. I would ask them about this and if they are vague then report to your local education authority.

OneDrop · 16/03/2021 17:02

Reading your OP scared me and my heart is still going a bit fast now. Absolutely brilliant that your daughter asked him to move, reported, told you.

Is it not the case that ‘Prevent’ is supposed to apply to white supremacist deradicalisation these days? Perhaps a red herring....

ColdCottage · 16/03/2021 17:05

That's dreadful. Agree have the school outline exactly what they are doing about it directly to the boy, the LEA and any extra teaching in that year group/across the school.

I'd also be inclined to report it to the police.

SchrodingersUnicorn · 16/03/2021 17:05

IME the LEA do nothing except record it for numbers. The police refuse to do anything about anything that happens in school, even physical assault, and the sanctions school can give are limited - and what is a 3 day suspension going to do if the parents hold the same disgusting views? Just 3 days of xbox at home. Schools also often aren't allowed to tell other parents what sanction a child has, even if it is because of an attack on your child, because it is deemed the other student's personal data.
This kind of behaviour is appalling and you may have to push really, really hard to get any sort of comeuppance for him. I say as a teacher, do not be fobbed off. Keep pushing.

Your poor daughter than absolutely disgusting! Go to the police!!!! The little shit needs to learn about serious consequences! I'm heartbroken for her that this has happened! If I was that boys mother, I'd report him myself!!!!

langdale2016 · 16/03/2021 17:10

This is shocking. Your poor daughter. It's very good the school contacted you but you should still report this to the police too! Good luck!

Cassilis · 16/03/2021 17:10

@FluffyHippo

I can’t recall any threads where an OP has said her child was making racist comments and MNers told her their child’s brain is still forming?

You can’t. So stop be an apologist for racism and dismissing racism as name-calling.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/03/2021 17:10

@AllTheCakes

That’s horrible, you poor daughter. I would go to the police, a sanction doesn’t seem to go far enough.
Definitely this.

Racism, bullying, intimidation AND misogyny rolled up in one.

Your daughter doesn't deserve that sort of cr*p.

Haydugi · 16/03/2021 17:11

I’m so sorry this happened to her Flowers

joystir59 · 16/03/2021 17:12

That's a hate crime. Police now.

FluffyHippo · 16/03/2021 17:12

Oh, and all of you calling a thirteen-year-old child 'a little shit' and so on aren't really covering yourselves in glory. You expect everyone else to be so understanding when it's your child, but when it's someone else's...

Er, that's exactly my point...

Excuses all the way until it's a child's behaviour that offends you personally.

Laila747 · 16/03/2021 17:14

Absolutely disgusting behaviour.
Take it as high and as far as you can. This child needs to learn a lesson or two.

I hope your daughter is ok OP Flowers

joystir59 · 16/03/2021 17:15

Any parent condoning this should be reported to social services and the police for aiding and abetting hate crime. 13 is plenty old enough to start a criminal career.

@FluffyHippo what’s your point? It’s as clear as mud, you’re making no noise.

You sound butt hurt that there is zero tolerance for racism on this thread apart from you.

Twillow · 16/03/2021 17:16

It's really sad, isn't it. that this kind of thing is still going on. I know it's true from things my children report. One of my children had an argument with someone else who thought 'Paki' was an normal noun to use about people of Asian origin and had no understanding it was offensive. I imagine it was in commonplace usage in that child's home.

Cassilis · 16/03/2021 17:16

That’s awful & so ignorant - he didn’t even know where your daughter was from! He needs the book thrown at him & a lesson in geography!

rwalker · 16/03/2021 17:22

@FluffyHippo
YEAH, CALL THE POLICE FOR A BIT OF NAME-CALLING - IT'S NOT LIKE THEY'D HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO INVESTIGATE, IS IT?

Most schools have a PCSO attached to them and will very gladly deal due to want ing to go down to route of early intervention .
They won't have CID or police helicopters out .

Justjoinedforthis · 16/03/2021 17:22

So sorry for her and you. Yes Prevent is relevant here, it applies to all extremist groups such as white nationalist groups.

MsHedgehog · 16/03/2021 17:22

@FluffyHippo Was it your son who did this....? It's the only logical reason I can think of to justify your attempts to defend racial abuse, unless of course you don't see anything wrong with it, which says a lot about you.

OP - I'm so sorry your daughter has had to deal with this. Report it and escalate it. Racial abuse has no place in society and this boy needs to learn.

AWhisperWillDoIfThatsAllYouCan · 16/03/2021 17:23

Contact the police. It's a hate crime to say stuff like that. He is old enough to face the consequences and explain himself to the police, his parents etc.
