I am blown away by Charlotte's handwriting, she is only five. Surely this is preternaturally advanced? Link below.

My own DC who is also five cannot write like this, and I thought his writing was great...feeling bad about my homeschool skills!

Please put my mind at rest!

She could have traced over pencil which was later rubbed out.

It looks way too fluent for that and definitely looks like a child’s writing.

I don't know why people are analysing this. Princess Charlotte will be six very soon. My son used to write things and I would tell him about spelling and sometimes show him how to write something properly which he would copy. Isn't that normal and usual?

Whatever, it was a lovely, touching thing to do. I am glad the children are being brought up to think of their late grandmother who would have adored them.

My two children are the same age. My eldest was taught to print and then once that was mastered he was taught to join up.

My youngest has been taught the flicky cursive style letters right from the start.

@CecilyP you are so defensive in your replies to PP Grin just admit that you’re jealous of a 5 year old girl’s handwriting. I’ve never seen 2 people with the same handwriting. Age doesn’t always mean better handwriting.

CecilyP · 18/03/2021 08:46

What on earth am I jealous of? DS and I are both much older than 5! However, even in my dotage, I can still see, and I am observant enough to notice that they are 2 different taught writing styles. Of course individuals writing varies but doesn’t veer all that much from what they’ve been taught, except if maybe they’ve done a calligraphy course!

Oh dear, I’m sounding way more invested in this than I really am!

I have a 7 year old who cannot write anywhere near that neatly. My 5 year old niece can though. Think it just depends on the child

SoWhyNot · 19/03/2021 20:02

My nephew sent me a beautifully written Christmas card and he would be the same year group as Charlotte. Both of them have much neater writing than I do.
