Use of the C**t word

Kintsugi16 · 12/03/2021 13:31

I wasn’t sure the word cunt was allowed in the title. Anyway.

I see this word being used more and more on forums and in general conversation. It was once shocking but is now becoming more acceptable.

Do posters, many who identify has feminists, not have a problem using a word for female genitalia as a derogatory term?

OP posts:

For me if you're swearing at someone and with aggression it is offensive. If you're using it in conversation or as a joke it is fine but i do like a good swear 🤣 i don't really associate any of it with genitalia. If i say someone is a fanny or a fud I'm not actually likening them to a vagina. Bawbag is another good one in Scotland Shock

Sarcobaleno · 12/03/2021 15:23

I can see no reason why it's worse than dick, prick etc. I do use it, but definitely less liberally than fanny, twat or fud which are all terms of endearment. Slag is a really nasty word I would never use though.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/03/2021 15:23

@NewYearNewTwatName

no, no problem using it.

I once filled the whole of active with Cunt in all the titles.

Yes it was silly of me and quite childish really, but it was after a heated debate on the word cunt.

Was that you?

I remember being quite cheered by it.

That and Germaine Greer on Balderdash reclaiming the word cunt for all women

OMG someone remembers!Shock Yes it was Grin quite a awhile ago now, I've changed account since then, thanks to Jeffery, and also always forgetting my password and obscure email account

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/03/2021 16:22

I've changed name too. But yes, I remember waiting, watching and cheering it on... and sniggering 😁

NewYearNewTwatName · 12/03/2021 16:29

I use to name change regularly, but I'm stuck with this one since last year Shock, because I forgot my MN password again, and the password for the email that's not connected to anything 🙈Blush

No. It’s a lovely word.

It's a shame it's lost its shock value.

I need to find a new massively offensive swearing word 🙁

mytwocats · 12/03/2021 16:41

Why anyone would want to even say that word is beyond me,lower than gutter language,& makes the person who uses it an absolute moron, who cannot think of anything more disgusting to say

TidyOmlette · 12/03/2021 16:43

I’m female and I use it. I’m Scottish though and sometimes it’s used in jest

gottakeeponmovin · 12/03/2021 16:46

I used to avoid it but I use it now - but only to describe those who truly deserve it

optimistic40 · 12/03/2021 16:47

Not bothered about that word, don't tend to use it as it's a bit more harsh-sounding for some reason. I say it jokingly sometimes

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/03/2021 16:50

... and yet the word 'moron' is somehow acceptable!

ShagMeRiggins · 12/03/2021 16:54

Absolutely classic. Agree it was childish, but childish gets a pass if it’s damn funny.

Never ever use it. It is vile.

However, there is a difference between using is 'as punctuation' as a user said above, and calling a woman a c*t. The former is ok (just not to my taste), but the latter is horrible.

MirandaMarple · 12/03/2021 17:01

It's my favourite word with four letters.

Yeah baby!

Gobbycop, working on the premise that the OP will be okay with this (they do seem quite open-minded) let's try to come up with something as you suggest!

Hmmm, this is gonna be a tricky one.......Wink

Maassi · 12/03/2021 17:29

Cunt is my fave thing to say to dickhead blokes in an exasperated sigh. Swiftly followed by

"...Sorry, didnt mean to call you a cunt - a cunt has far more depth and warmth. I meant something useless..."

Means I get to say it alot 😁

JumpOnAPlane · 12/03/2021 17:44

Oh. Just had a WhatsApp with a friend who lives in a little village in the English cuntryside (see that oneSmile) to get her take.

She seems to feel that for her 'cunt' isn't as bad as 'bitch'. She finds bitch more demeaning ie being referred to as a female dog just really useful for breeding.

So how about this for a new word.....

Bitchcunt Confused

Suzi888 · 12/03/2021 17:58

I prefer cockwomble. Not really a fan of cu next Tuesday Grin.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 12/03/2021 18:02

It's a fantastic word
