To think that if the only black adult in your family says they have experienced racism...

... it's counterproductive to send a white man out to say, We're very much not racist?

That just is never going to end well. Ask Ian Murray how it worked out for him.

I couldn't care much either way about the Royal Family. Just baffled at the headline of William saying this.

@SpaceRaiders

Don’t assume you know about me or my experience. Very presumptuous to feel you know anything about my background or that of my families, because I disagree that an entire family can be called racist!

What did I presume about you? You said British history had nothing to do with you as you weren’t even born. And I told you it had everything to do with me, given my family was subjugated and my country colonised.

You’re making another assumption there, assuming because I’m British that my parents/grandparents were born here etc.... and that I could possible affiliate within anyone/anything else.

I like the RF in general (not every member of it of course though) I particularly like William and Kate and the queen, so I will share my view that they can’t all be considered racist based on one family member. That’s discrimination at its finest.

I used to really like Harry, but I’ve gone right off him!

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 11/03/2021 18:11

Basically it’s Meghan on her own, cos Harry is on record being racist whereas we’re trying to figure out who maybe said a racist thing. Well Harry... you for starters mate. You definitely did on several occasions.

Again... not a royalist, I’m anti racist. But why is Harry getting a free pass here? It’s literally staring us in the face.

To me it’s the same issue as why is Andy not being investigated.

It’s about accountability - across the board, all of them.

Nanny0gg · 11/03/2021 18:11

@Overcastcloudy

Well, she could ask her husband, who has made a racist comment or two in his time...

Indeed! Did she not know about the Nazi uniform at the party??

And calling a colleague in his army days a P*?

In jest, of course

TableFlowerss · 11/03/2021 18:11

couldn’t

mimi0708 · 11/03/2021 18:12

@BlackBucketOfCheese

Ok seriously, just STOP *@itispersonal* . Just STOP telling a black woman that they are 'mistaken' on racism, that it wasn't racism. When a person of colour tells you they’ve experienced racism, you shut up and listen, it’s never okay to say ‘maybe you just misunderstood’.

This ^^ all day long @itispersonal.
People who deny those who have experienced racism, the ability to talk about it without retorts or “you’re mistaken” are racists. You are racist.

This exactly. Have experienced a lot of racism here as a person of colour and it's always the white people I know who say maybe I've misunderstood and downplay it...
CayrolBaaaskin · 11/03/2021 18:17

I think anyone is entitled to give their side of the story regardless of the colour of their skin.

@Cokie3

Of course Harry could. Things are often mistaken and read differently to what they are intended to mean.

I had a work email today, said x, y and z, and my instinct is to assume it was having a go at me. When someone says x, I again think they are being personally negative to me because that's where my head space is at the minute. It obviously isn't but thats how I see it, that's my truth!

StoneofDestiny · 11/03/2021 18:18

The best thing for all of them would be to be left alone to work it through for themselves

Nope - while they are employers accepting public funding, it's very much worth a much bigger investigation

Frogartist · 11/03/2021 18:19

@SpaceRaiders

And what about all the other rural families/empires in bygone years.... all people living and breathing today still accountable for the actions of they’re ancestors?

You have multiple generations is a family built on white supremacy, subjugation, dehumanising Black people. Their entire wealth derived from the commonwealth. Sorry but as uncomfortable as that may make you, that history doesn’t disappear overnight.

I am sure a lot of it does. But hasn't the RF always been rich? I don't actually know!
0blio · 11/03/2021 18:19

@Thewordgame

He hasn’t spoken to his brother yet, even though his sister in law revealed she was suicidal at one point???? And experienced clear racism whilst living in the UK. He is a hypocrite if he supports mental health charities when he cannot even be arsed supporting his own brother.
I honestly don't think it's a case of not being arsed.

I don't think he's been allowed to contact his brother. We really can't appreciate what their lives are like. M&H just gave us an inkling in their interview.

derxa · 11/03/2021 18:20

I'll never forget Harry's smirking face when he made the allegations. If he was so disgusted perhaps his face should have reflected the seriousness of his claims. Duper's delight! The nasty hypocritical little shit.

Troublewaters2021 · 11/03/2021 18:23

Why is if always Meghan is a liar. You realise is she then Harry also a is right !
I find this whole thing bizzare. People keep talking about him being controlled by Meghan but have absolutely no issue of him being controlled by his family.

haggistramp · 11/03/2021 18:26

Are people actually doubting that some members of the royal family are racist? Seriously? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good one. That's practically what Prince Philip is known for.

Overcastcloudy · 11/03/2021 18:29

@joystir59 What a lovely, thoughtful post.

Yup. That’s the only ‘skill set’ he supposedly has. In the guise of a dry sense of humour of course.
rwalker · 11/03/2021 18:31

He gave a half arsed answer to a vague half arsed acusation.
call it out properly and get it dealt with instead of just dropping snipet to cause a shit storm .

SpaceRaiders · 11/03/2021 18:32

But hasn't the RF always been rich? I don't actually know!

And therein lies the problem.

rippledegg · 11/03/2021 18:34

He expressed what he thinks in a clear enough sentence. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Further speculation, hypotheses or assumptions are uncalled for.

Frogartist · 11/03/2021 18:34
@TableFlowerss Respectfully recognise your own bloody privilege!

My family were held in concentration camps run by the British in the 1950’s. This was during the queens reign, so you’ll excuse me if I don’t have any sympathy or good grace for the RF.
I didn't know about this. Where were these camps?

Cokie3 · 11/03/2021 18:35

@THisbackwithavengeance

For heavens sake. What was the man supposed to do when confronted by journalists. Agree and say yeah, well actually we are all paid up members of the National Front?

There is no evidence whatsoever that the RF are racist other than people like PM of Kent and does she even count?

So sick of people making ridiculous allegations over a he said/she said comment when we have no idea what was said or who said it anyway.

What a shame that our elderly Queen cannot be allowed to spend what remains of her life in peace with her husband who is probably dying because of this spoilt, selfish pair.

People have lost all sense of proportionality. I'm sure Meghan did feel out of her depth. I also think that the Senior Royals are so used and hardened to press batterings that they underestimated how hurt Meghan was by the constant press negativity. People forget that what Meghan has been subjected to was nothing compared to what Camilla went through in the 90s and 00s at the hands of the press.

@THisbackwithavengeance Oh so Meghan and Harry should shut up and suffer in silence for the Queen's comfort? Is that what you're saying? How dare you! From your post it's not Meghan and Harry who are spoilt and selfish.

The fact you expect a black woman to just cop it and suffer in silence because the Queen is old says so much about you, and none of it speaks to decency.

Frogartist · 11/03/2021 18:35

@SpaceRaiders

Well, I actually don't know everything and I didn't grow up in this country either.
BlackBucketOfCheese · 11/03/2021 18:37

Standing ovation!

The sooner this country stops excusing racism to spare the feelings of old people, the better.

Clarinsmum · 11/03/2021 18:38

The camps were in Kenya.

TheKeatingFive · 11/03/2021 18:38

Is this supposed to be a joke?

Err Philip. On the record. Numerous times.

Or does he not count either? Hmm
