To ask when's the best time to get a cheap deal for Legoland?

Would love to treat the kids after the crapness of the last year. I'm thinking of taking them to Legoland and staying in the Lego hotel. Obviously, I won't be looking to do this til the summer when (hopefully) all restrictions are finished and they're off school.

I searched two random dates - one gave me a price of £1000 (!!!) the other, £500. Rather than me randomly trying different dates to see which gives the cheapest price, does anyone have any tips on the cheapest dates to visit? i.e. a Wednesday in July or something like that? Thank you.

When my kids were small we went on a random weekend in September. I think I paid £120 for two days on the park, premier inn and breakfast for the 4 of us. This was years ago mind you. So I expect it’s a lot more expensive now.

ArosGartref · 09/03/2021 11:16

I don't think I've ever seen the hotel cheaper than £400 during summer holidays.

Curlywurly75 · 09/03/2021 11:17

Thank you. They'd really love to stay at one of the actual Lego hotels (even though they're ridiculously expensive!!)

We went October half term once when it was an odd half term and most of the rest of the country wasn't off! We didn't realise til we got there! It was lovely and quiet plus we got a supersaver rate at a travelodge in the middle of Windsor with views of the castle.

NEVER go on an inset day - that's when EVERYONE goes.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 09/03/2021 11:20

Sorry just seem your update. Just keep checking for low season.

JADS · 09/03/2021 11:20

We stayed on a Sunday night in July and it was £400 2 years ago. I would look at September and early October, I would be surprised if it was anything less than £300 for a night these days.

Curlywurly75 · 09/03/2021 11:25

Great, thank you.
Any thoughts on which of the Lego hotels is better?

Depends what your kids are into. The castle one is newer, but I don't think it has the restaurant or pool. My 2 love Ninjago so that's what we chose.

LeSquigh · 09/03/2021 12:59

@Sawyersfishbiscuits how does that work with I set days when they are different for every school? My kids go to two different schools in the same local authority area and they never have inset days at the same time.

anxiouscrazymum · 09/03/2021 13:47

We went on an inset day in December and it was so quiet, no queues and on some rides we went round several times. We got a deal on Black Friday x

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 09/03/2021 17:10

@LeSquigh that's ok because as I said AVOID inset days.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 09/03/2021 17:12

@anxiouscrazymum I didn't think the park was fully open in December. But lucky you getting an INSET day in December. Ours are always tagged onto half terms.

littlemisslozza · 09/03/2021 17:17

For a cheaper option, we stayed in a Premier Inn nearby but went to the Legoland hotel for lunch. Much nicer than the fast food offerings in the park and the children had a play inside too. Was a nice way to break up the day actually.
Have used Nectar points/Tesco points to get in to the park cheaply before now, and those 241 vouchers you often get from Kelloggs.

2tired2bewitty · 09/03/2021 17:19

We looked at doing the same a couple of years ago and in the end we went to Disneyland Paris instead as it wasn’t all that much more expensive. We were bound by school holidays and a dh who works weekends though.

xyzandabc · 09/03/2021 17:23

Contrary to Sawyers, we only ever go on an inset day. Never a weekend or school holiday.

We live about an hour away so wouldn't usually have the same inset days as locals. Also stay until closing, as in school days the park tends to empty out after 3pm, school trips go home and toddlers are tired so go home for tea.

Curlywurly75 · 09/03/2021 23:18

Thanks all.
Am I right in thinking you can't use the 2 for 1 vouchers when you're booking the hotel and days at the park all in?

Dreamingofkfc · 09/03/2021 23:53

At the moment the price of the hotel
includes one day entry, then at checkout you can add the next day for £10 each. I don’t think you can book the hotel without entry so wouldn’t be able to use the 2 for 1. I’ve looked and looked, they occasionally do kids go free deals but I missed that. Summer is looking for one night £451. I’ve never seen it for as much as £1000 - what date was that?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/03/2021 23:56

Depends on the inset day, I guess! If it’s a common one like the end of the summer hols, it’s going to be awful.

If your child’s school has a really random one like a Tuesday in June, then you’re probably good to go then!

PervyMuskrat · 10/03/2021 00:06

Beware the food in the main Lego hotel. We went on an all you can eat deal and it was all vile and not much of it.

DdraigGoch · 10/03/2021 00:13

I used to work in the hotel. Basically any time around school holidays (during the open season) will be horrendously expensive. Midweek outside of school holidays is your best bet. Ideally you need an inset day on an unusual day (unlike many which are tacked onto the beginning or end of the school holidays). Or be prepared to skip school.

You can get some cheap hotel rates when the park is closed if you are prepared to visit the park itself on a later date.

Did you use Bricks or Skyline?
mindutopia · 10/03/2021 06:45

£500 for one night in the hotel and a day at Legoland?! A couple years ago, I took my then 6 year old to Venice for 3 days and with flights, hotel, boat taxis, etc I don’t think I paid that much!

peak2021 · 10/03/2021 06:49

Could you consider the week before or after Christmas? It's not an attraction solely for the summer.

Secondsop · 10/03/2021 07:09

Any time in school holidays is expensive (around the £500 mark) but it is a treat that they will love - yes you can get much cheaper deals with the non-Legoland hotels but the hotel room was a huge thrill for my kids if you can swing it financially. Note that the all-inclusive food is nothing to write home about but we managed fine. The food and drink in the park is expensive - I brought all my own snacks and drinks (Ive always had a baby in a pram each time so it was easy to cart stuff round. Dates-wise, if you have an inset day that isn’t appended to another school holiday (we have a random one in June), that can be good. Last year my kids didn’t go back until a couple of days later in September compared to most schools so we went then - literally the Sunday and Monday before school which started on the Tuesday - which was cheaper than the rest of the summer holidays. Last year I’d also booked for the night of Easter Monday which was cheaper than any other school holiday dates but obviously the park then closed for COVID.

ConstanceGracy · 10/03/2021 08:02

They usually have a sale in January where you get up to 40 % off but obviously that’s a bit late now .
Sadly Legoland don’t really have a low season as it’s mostly aimed at pre schoolers although mid week will be a bit cheaper and quieter .
Also I think in term time they are shut on Wednesdays so definitely check their park opening Calendar before booking.
