Why is this? Private dentists are available - the NHS one is closed.
I understand for a while during the Spring but now it is still closed

Theunamedcat · 08/03/2021 21:03

Ours were cancelled then they nagged me into making an appointment (6 emails and several text messages) reminding me the kids hadn't been seen for 12 months etc so I made an appointment they CANCELLED THEM AGAIN a week later "due to the pandemic" that would be the same pandemic that was going on the other week when you told me to MAKE the appointment? I rang up irritated told them they needed to be seen they made another appointment a few days before the one they had cancelled i just dont get it why cancel? They now need to be seen three monthly because they have a few issues

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 08/03/2021 21:04

SE and ours is open, and I think taking new patients if anyone's got an emergency.

NovemberR · 08/03/2021 21:05

DS and I both had a filling last week with our NHS dentist. We saw them for a checkup the week before and both needed work.

It seems to depend on the dentist.

RavingAnnie · 08/03/2021 21:13

We have two nhs dentists in our household. Both have been open for check ups and hygienist appts since about August 2020.

en0la · 08/03/2021 21:18

Our nhs dentist is open and has been all year

squiglet111 · 08/03/2021 21:25

My private dentist told me it was because NHS dentist were being paid regardless, so could chose to stay closed.

Hesma · 08/03/2021 21:25

Mine is open in Berkshire

marplemead · 08/03/2021 21:26

My NHS dentist is open and I had a check-up last week. I'm in the SW too.

tinytemper66 · 08/03/2021 21:27

My NHS dentist in Wales has cancelled my appointment 3 times since September. Wondering if it will be fourth time lucky in April.

Redglitter · 08/03/2021 21:28

Mines open & doing routine check ups

Elouera · 08/03/2021 21:29

Our NHS dentist, SE, has continued through out covid, BUT, an appointment is taking at least a month! Part of my tooth broke last year and DH had a loose tooth. Both of us had pain and the wait was over a month for both of us! I offered to pay privately to be seen sooner, but our practice said they were not allowing a 2 tier system there. They did however let DH pay privately for his treatment once there though, as he has an ongoing dental problem.

Snowpatrolling · 08/03/2021 21:30

Mines open in Bristol. Went today, back next week for a teethy deep clean!!!

TheSmallAssassin · 08/03/2021 21:30

My whole family had a check up at our NHS dentist the week before last, in Devon. All of us back this week for further treatment Blush.

I only rang up because someone on here mentioned it, they were just starting to work through their lists.

MessAllOver · 08/03/2021 21:33

Our NHS dentist is only open for emergencies and no date for when they're going to restart regular check-ups. We grudgingly paid for private check-ups last month. My 3yo hadn't been seen for around 14 months (he was due an appointment last March but then we went into lockdown). Since early detection through frequent check-ups is vital to prevent potentially lifelong dental issues in children's teeth, it's very concerning that we've essentially completely de-prioritised children's oral health.

Torvean · 08/03/2021 22:00

My NHS dentist has been open from December. From this month they have started aerosol procedures, but they are limited to how many they can do in one day.

Allbymyself1 · 08/03/2021 22:06

I'm in Devon and our dentist hasn't seen us since Dec 2019!!! They've been closed yet my daughter's Orthodontist has remained open for the last year!
I'm absolutely desperate for a scale and polish 😔

RaininSummer · 08/03/2021 22:19

I am just desperate for a dentist as been on the list 3 years now in the south West

FireflyRainbow · 09/03/2021 00:52

My family have all had appointments with NGS dentist for months. I've had root canal and a crown fitted which was multiple appointments and kids all had check ups. No problem getting seen here.

FireflyRainbow · 09/03/2021 00:53

NHS I mean

Hm2020 · 09/03/2021 01:01
