Really angry to see that driving tests have been cancelled and rather be starting on 12th April it is now 22 April so that means bloody driving test cancelled. What the hell DVSA.
@EveningOverRooftops give over yourself. Driving is a privilege and a convenience not a right. The DVSA employees however have the right to be work in safety.

The last year has been awful for everyone- waiting a few extra days to be able to book tests is neither here nor there. Am

Take your anger and be furious at stuff that matters.....you know the stuff that really inconveniences people like poverty, inequality, VAWG.

TLDR: build a bridge......and get over it!
Eh you say that but its considered such a nessecity you can't even lose your license for points if you rely on it

NeverTrustaRabbit · 08/03/2021 19:26

@Sapho47 what????
Under the rotting up rule you lose your licence for a period of times. There have to be very special mitigating circs for that not to happen. Disingenuous to suggest otherwise

Can you really not understand the impact of not being able to drive could have on getting specific jobs ect? Are you that hard of thinking?

Why would you apply for a job that requires the ability to drive if you can’t, in fact, drive?

LimitIsUp · 08/03/2021 20:35

That's kind of the point hadjab, it excludes people from applying for jobs that they would be otherwise qualified for, because they can't drive. Are you being deliberately obtuse? Confused

Apparently people really are that hard of thinking! The pp is presumably referencing the fact that depending on where you live and your skills, driving may be a prerequisite to ANY job. Public transport is not an option everywhere in this country, especially if you are looking at shift work, for example, or there's little but delivery jobs and warehouses that aren't on the right route.

It's such a frustrating situation. We've been in tier three basically permenantly, so lessons have been illegal. I've tried to restart my lessons (pass my theory around this time 2019, then had a baby over the summer, postponed knowing I'd be able to pass summer 2020) three times this year, including paying a big sum of money to an intensive driving course which was only allowed to run for two weeks (I managed five hours!).

My provisional has now lapsed. I don't have a car to practise in. I'm due a second baby in the summer. Driving just looks like a pipe dream!

My poor DD has had her 4th one cancelled was supposed to be 1 April still waiting for the 5 th date. That will no doubt be cancelled like the others.

It’s cost me and her thousands in lessons. She worked weekends in a shop for many months. So sad. Massive gaps in lessons means she practically goes back to learning again.

Do you know if this includes the 22nd? Mine is booked for that day! Would be a real pain if they actually plan to start doing tests on the 23rd & i miss it by one day!!
TheGoodEnoughWife · 10/03/2021 08:08

@L2001 tests should restart that day so you should be okay but it is being confirmed 5th April.

I know this is a slightly older thread but, I had been cancelled for about a year, finally got to my test today after booking an annual leave day, got all the way there to be told that my test has been cancelled again! Because a few of the examiners have been pinged by track and trace and my new test date is in September!!!
Its very frustrating because that's an extra 7 weeks paying for lessons and a other annual leave day wasted and another I need to book.
You would think by now that they would have covered all grounds, the fact we've been living with this virus for well over a year now. It is frustrating, money and time consuming and anything to do with driving or documents I'm the dvla have been the worst companies to effectively deal with Covid.

Its pushing so many people back and we are allowed to be cross about it, but what can we do? Nothing essentially. Absolutely disheartened today because I mentally prepared, made childcare arrangements, booked off and only to be told AT the test centre!!

My DP is the same position, and it's really putting our lives on hold and causing serious stress. He's just taken a new job he can get to on public transport, 2 buses, takes 1.5 hour, until he can get his next test but then we've just had 2 days notice his bus and routes have been cancelled and its an absolute nightmare now. To drive its just 20-25 minutes down the motorway. He had his last one and 5th one in May, got there and there was a minor car fault and his test got stopped 5 minutes in. His next test isn't until end of October.

I'm job hunting so 'can' take him to work if really needed, his job is more important than me, but i'm home with my 1 year old to bed later and then getting up earlier in the morning, messes with all form of routine and unfair to be dragging her in and out all the time.

I've downloaded Testi app for him and constantly checking for cancellations. You put your details in once and then can just refresh the page, rather than clicking all the buttons. Theres quite a few popping up but limited on dates cos his instructor is on holiday all of august. It's £9.99 for the premium service, not too bad.
It could be worth a go.

It is incredibly frustrating and people that have disregarded this as an issue and right to be upset and angry clearly live from a life of privilege.
