To think menopausal rage is mostly ok

Ok so I think I'm probably peri-menopausal at age 44. I've had other minor changes I think are hormone related but the main one is absolute red hot rage. So far I think I've actually used this to my benefit as in said things which really needed to be said and no longer been willing to put up with bad behaviour or comments by others. I don't know why I didn't do this earlier maybe I just wasn't angry enough. However this morning I've just beaten the shit out of a Henry hoover head. Carpet brush attachment was broken but wouldn't come off the pipe to put on another. Said pipe is now bent having been bashed on the wall and hit with a hammer. I axed off the plastic head too. The ring of plastic is still on the pipe. I've thrown all the broken bits in the garden with axe and hammer. Husband gave me a funny look and asked if I've stopped raging yet. Will it get worse? Is it always a bad thing?

Henry vacuum cleaners absolutely deserve having the axe taken to them!

Very tempted now to take one to my own.

Absolutely nothing wrong with battering a hoover. It is an inanimate object with no feelings and I am sure it deserved every blow to it. I'm not looking forward to this stage as I have become very stable emotionally over the past 10 years and I dread to think that I be driven by moods again. I'm 46 so guess I won't have too long to wait.

Grin Grin This post made me laugh sooooo much yesterday. All the earnest posters afterwards - 'oh gosh, that's really not okay OP, did your children witness this?'

FFS - OP lost it. And lost it bad.

Shit happens. It doesn't mean she is going to turn into an axe-wielding murderer.

We've had a full year of this pandemic shit and some people are not perfect or anywhere near perfect. So maybe get over it - and let those who need to vent by taking an axe to their hoover do so in peace.

@LemonRoses

No not acceptable and abdication of responsibility. It takes womanhood back to the 1890s when hysteria was a reasonable medical diagnosis. It undermines the equality many women have fought so hard for. Appalling attitude.
By OP's own admission she is "the person who doesn't want to create ructions and make waves". Because girls have it drummed into them that it's unseemly and unfeminine to express anger. Well, that attitude can fuck off back to the 1890s along with the pp's "reasonable diagnosis of hysteria".

Being a female human being is, by and large, SHIT. By our mid-40s some of us have had enough of it? First step towards making it less shit is to stop taking shit from other people.

Next step is to channel that anger and use it productively.

OP, I hope HRT or alternative therapies will help you, and that you will not be the primary user of your new hoover.

Never quite as bad as axeing poor Henry to death (DH has done that to a few inanimate objects), but I was certainly ragey as peri-meno took hold when I was 46/47. I started HRT a year ago and it improved very quickly, so it's well worth it.

I'm now headlong into menopause at age 48 and my hair is falling out, amongst other things, but the irritation does settle with HRT.

Give my regards to Henry.
