To be annoyed about lockdown poem posted in my FB running group feed

I probably am , but then I feel I am not.
I am a member of a FB running group. It's been wonderful- never met anyone in person, but its women only and people post pictures of their runs, and generally talk about running related matters. When I am finding lockdown circumstances tough, it's the only feed that I look at.

So just now a lady has posted a schmalzy poem about how our DCs will get through lockdown, how no one will ask what grades they get in 20 years time - err yes employers might actually do that, and they'll have happy memories of doing jigsaws with their families and clapping for carers. Usual nauseous stuff, I think resilience may be mentioned as well.

I actually have the rage as a result. It's a running group. I am on the running group to escape from thinking about coronavirus. Not all DCs will get through this unscathed, it's delusional to think they will. I personally know of quite a few teens now with depression and school refusal because of the circumstances.

I know I should just ignore it, but I'm just so angry that I can't just have a happy covid free place. Should I post something or ask to get it deleted?

YABU. It’s one post; just scroll past and ignore it Confused If SM gives you the rage you need to stay off it.

Oh that 'poem' is talentless drivel - I don't know how anyone can read that twee rubbish and think, yup, that is just what my running group needs. If you are going to post a poem in a running group, you should at least choose a decent one.

Jesus, OP, what a load of wank! I'm admin of a fb group and we have as the pinned post a general set of rules, one of which is 'please don't post a 'thank you for adding me to the group!' post, because if everyone does that, what we're here to talk about will get lost'.

Within two days of saying that, we'd turned on post approval because we were getting over 20 'thank you for adding me to the group!' posts a day. Grin

If I were you, I'd definitely report it to the admins. Some groups are better moderated than others, so they may not have seen it themselves yet. One memorable post in another fb group concerned an advert for a ballgag that was up for about ten days before the admins realised...

@emilyfrost I do a lot of scrolling at present, I don't expect to have to do that in my refuge running group.

You can’t control everything. It’s easy to scroll on past.

@emilyfrost I disagree with the Just Scroll attitude. The point is the poster shouldn't have put the poem there and they need to be told to keep their posts running relevant in the future. Why should everyone else on the group have to just scroll past shite that shouldn't be there in the first place?!
