Delivery afternoon tea on a golf course

For context, we live abroad. Tomorrow is supposed to be sun all day (finally!) and 18 degrees. I’ve seen a lovely afternoon tea set from a local cafe that can be delivered. Think beautifully wrapped box with a ribbon tied round, containing sandwiches, scones, mini jam preserves, freshly baked brownies, lemon pie, macarons etc. My plan is to eat it as a picnic on one of the deserted golf courses nearby (closed for golfers due to the pandemic) stunning to walk round and toddler Dd likes to play and fun for miles.
Dh thinks it’s a rip off and too expensive and we can grab some sandwiches, cakes and drinks at a nearby shop. I really want it, would you?

Here it is, is twenty something pounds too much (not sure of the conversion from euros)
Am I being frivolous?

I'd do it it, as long as the family budget allows!

Caramelwhispers · 06/03/2021 09:13

Go for it and enjoy it with your dd and your dh can sit in the far corner with his warm sandwiches and flat fizzy drink from a warm can. £18 for an afternoon tea is very cheap because my local artisan cafe charges £30 per head.

Doidontimmm · 06/03/2021 09:13

No it looks amazing!

strawberrie · 06/03/2021 09:13

Treat yourselves!

Poppins2016 · 06/03/2021 09:14

That actually looks like really good value for the equivalent of £20!

SacreBleeeurgh · 06/03/2021 09:14

Absolutely, do it!

Northofsomewhere · 06/03/2021 09:15

If it's actually value for money I'd go for it or if not then for a special occasion. If it's just a picnic and it's a bit pricey then I probably agree with your DH. You'll probably enjoy the shop picnic just as much and come away with memories about your DD rather than the cream tea. Maybe even make some scones (they're super easy to make) at home with DD is she's big enough to help then head for the picnic with shop food.

MrsCaptainJakeBallard · 06/03/2021 09:19

That looks good value for the money I think. We are having one delivered too that is more expensive than that and probably has less in it. It's nice to have for a treat, we can't do much else at the moment!

FedNlanders · 06/03/2021 09:20

Are you sure its not 20 a head.

Mortenharketscheekbones · 06/03/2021 09:23

@FedNlanders It’s per box -€25, €3.99 of that is delivery. Bearing in mind, we’re in a country where wages are lower etc, so perhaps it would be 10/15 more in the U.K.? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Looks absolutely lovely and reasonably priced! Go for it!

MrWendel · 06/03/2021 09:38

Will you actually be able to get onto the course?

Mortenharketscheekbones · 06/03/2021 09:38

@MrWendel Yes, they’re open to walk but not to play

Obviously I can’t speak for the OP, but our local golf course was open for walkers during lockdown.

ssd · 06/03/2021 09:40

Looks lovely, enjoy!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 06/03/2021 09:40

Post-clash Grin

lidoshuffle · 06/03/2021 09:42

I had visions of you all sitting on the green on a checked tablecloth with cake stands etc, as irate golfers queued up behind you! Grin

Definitely go with the tea, it looks lovely.

Whatalottachocca · 06/03/2021 09:44

I’d treat myself, there have been very few opportunities to enjoy something nice over the last few months.

Mortenharketscheekbones · 06/03/2021 09:45

Ooh they even have a range of ten teas to choose from-vanilla with cherries..I’m sold!

Ltb. Joy sucker. (First bit perhaps ott, second bit valid).

This really does depend though on your financial situation. To some people £20 is neither here nor there; to others it's their weekly food budget.

WhateverHappenedToMe · 06/03/2021 09:47

If DH and DD are both going to complain and spoil the day it won't be worth it. Take sandwiches and cake from home.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 06/03/2021 09:49

Looks amazing
If you can afford it, why not? Seems a lovely lockdown treat.

Husband sounds a killjoy - let him make own sarnies at home.

activitythree · 06/03/2021 09:54

Tbh I would be contacting the green keeper and asking permission. Open to walk doesn't mean open to picnic. I live near a championship course so the issues of people using the course have been well publicised. Don't assume it's ok.

SwedishK · 06/03/2021 09:57

It looks like good value for money, but if your golf courses are anything like the golf courses here I would give it a miss. Ours is just full of dog walkers with dogs off their leads, your picnic would be invaded as soon as the dogs could sniff out the goods.
