Has drinking extra water given me a prolapse ?

ohhmygosh · 05/03/2021 22:21

I started a week ago the drink 650ml of water on waking ( due to feeling dehydrated in the mornings) and then having a cup of decaf tea. And I've realised that's about the time my bits started to feel funny. Initially a bit just uncomfortable, like my pants were too small or twisted and then itchy, needing to wee a lot. The itch is totally gone and now I can basically feel a ball type thing in the middle of the vaginal opening. Oh god. I don't have a hand mirror, prob for the best. I did consider a UTI initially, but no pain on weeing and have also been straining for number two, my diet has been shocking ( and no I'm not a poo troll, I've been on here years and post a lot, but name change)! And now this thing is there in my vagina, no pain, just I can feel it like a mini ballSad

Ok so I've had two big babies, youngest is 1 and is heavy. I've been slacking on the pelvic floor exercises after initially being very good to stop leaking after birth. I initially was gently working out, but I was so exhausted and did loose the baby weight, but a stone has sneaked on, so I'm a bit overweight. No longer working out, still bf at including at night, hence waking feeling dehydrated. Not been leaking still, but having a lot of urgency past week, especially after walking, but drinking the water maybe doesn't help. I guess the damage is done ? Can I come back from this, what the hell do I do. Oh can I tell what type of prolapse or do I need to be referred to somewhere??

2-3L of water is a minimum amount t owe day ... why would you think 650ml could do any damage ?!! 😱

SnackSizeRaisin · 05/03/2021 22:29

More likely the straining plus the babies, and weight gain won't help. Odd that you would blame it on water of all things! Go to the GP. And do the pelvic floor exercises. Don't panic!

TDMN · 05/03/2021 22:29

Okay, deep breath OP!
Is it possible its a Bartholins cyst? (Google!)
Or alternatively, a skin tag gone rogue? (Hair has got wrapped sround and its swelled up?)

GrumpyHoonMain · 05/03/2021 22:31

Sounds like a prolapse to me - itching can be from your pelvic floor lowering and your vulva rubbing against pants. Try and get looser underwear. Can you speak to your GP about a women’s physio referral? It’s usually quite straight fwd to self-refer yourself

ohhmygosh · 05/03/2021 22:51

@TDMN @GrumpyHoonMain will I be able to tell from looking, I've googled if I can find a mirror somewhere ? I'm literally doing pelvic floor exercises now 🤞

@MiniCooperLover I was drinking the 650ml all at once in waking, then walking my dog with the DC. So the dog walk takes a long while, plus pushchair to lug, was making me quite desperate to get back for a wee.

Drinking 650ml of water at once didn't cause a 'prolapse'!

It sounds like a Bartholin's cyst to me.

theblackparade · 05/03/2021 23:06

There is no way on earth an adult human being thinks that drinking 650ml of water a day would cause you to prolapse. Someone is definitely writing this for fetish purposes.

Mydogdoesntlisten · 05/03/2021 23:22

Urgency for a few days normally signifies a UTI brewing for me. Are you sure it's not just a UTI?

ohhmygosh · 06/03/2021 09:49

Honestly I haven't got a fetish, but if my discomfort excites anyone then do enjoy. It seems a lot better today so maybe a cyst and weak pelvic floor. I didn't manage to look as couldn't find a mirror last night and the baby was teething and would not go to sleep.

I'm on the pelvic floor exercises. I'll reduce the water first thing.

Sounds like a slight prolapse to me. Go and see your GP.

Scarlettpixie · 06/03/2021 10:12

Ring your GP on Monday.

Whatever it is, it won't be the water.

Cassilis · 06/03/2021 10:12

Drinking water all at once is useless, it just goes thru you. Advice is to sip all day.

Drinking water as soon as you wake up is good as you’re most dehydrated after a night’s sleep.

hulahooper2 · 06/03/2021 10:19

See your dr, it won’t be caused by water

VulcanVause · 06/03/2021 10:35

Please see GP. They will refer you. It could just be a cyst. They can get quite big. a consultant gynaecologist or urologist will be able to tell you what it is and how to sort out. Unlikely to be anything to do with water drinking.

slidingdrawers · 06/03/2021 10:36

Okay, first stop straining to open your bowels. This isn't helping. Do you have step stools for your DC? If so take one into the loo with you when you are opening your bowels. Feet on that and lean forward and push your tummy out to go iyswim.

NHS Squeezy app is good as a prompt to remember your exercises and make sure you are doing them right. Squeezing your back passage is key.

Heavy lifting, if it is a prolapse won't help but realise this is nigh on impossible with little ones. Engaging your abs and pelvic floor pre lifting can help.

Yes, and see your GP.

Hopdathelf · 06/03/2021 10:38

Why would you drink so much then go out and put yourself in a position where you are desperate to go? Have you no common sense? Drink a bit less initially and take some water with you when you walk the dog.

Why is it so hard to find a mirror? You surely have a powder compact or something with a small mirror. Or use your phone with the front camera on.

TaraR2020 · 06/03/2021 11:13

Op drinking extra water won't have caused this.

You need to see your GP.

ohhmygosh · 06/03/2021 12:35

@slidingdrawers thank you very helpful.

@Hopdathelf I don't have a powder compact, I don't use powder. I wear very little makeup and none of the bits have mirrors, as only mascara & concealer. My toilet and bathroom have mirrored cabinets and I have a full length mirror attached to the wall.

Moonmelodies · 06/03/2021 16:11

No mirror? Take a photo.

browny1981 · 06/03/2021 17:16

I wouldn't bother with the mirror you won't see it unless it's very low and you'd have noticed before now. It isn't the water. Maybe its a slight prolapse and the full bladder is exacerbating it. I've had this and for me sip the water throughout the day. Get a footstool or squatty potty thing. Lean forward make sure you're emptying your bladder.
Don't give up with the pelvic floor and as suggested try the squeezy app and if youre bothered by this visit your Gp who won't mind having a look.
When I gained lockdown lard mine was worse plus I have had 5 DC and am on number 6 so I'm squeezing away like a good un.
Good luck

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 06/03/2021 18:56

The constipation will really not have helped.

Stay calm. Worth getting checked out with GP/gynae but its often quite reversible if you are young and really dedicate yourself to good management.

  • DO NOT let yourself get constipated. Ever. Straining is the worst thing. I am v careful diet wise now on this.
  • sit down if blowing nose etc.
  • avoid high impact exercise at least initially
  • pilates. 3 years of trying a lot of different things, it was pilates which got me back to normal.
HavelockVetinari · 06/03/2021 19:11

Look at it using your phone (assuming you're genuine and not some loser creep getting his rocks off on women's gyne stuff!). Then Google Bartholins cyst and prolapse. See which one it looks like. Make a GP appt. Job done.

BlackSabbath · 06/03/2021 19:18

Yes, use the selfie camera on your phone, you could take pictures then inspect

ohhmygosh · 06/03/2021 23:10

I can feel something today as the day has gone on and I can feel my pelvic floor when lifting my 14 month old. I might just be more aware but it's like it's sore. I've taken a photo in my phone I won't share and well I can't tell, really it doesn't look like the before diagrams or the prolapse diagrams 😬 I think hoping it's a cyst might be wishful thinking.

OP posts:
majestypalm · 06/03/2021 23:15

“I’ll reduce the water”

why would you?! That definitely didn’t cause this. Obviously book a GP appt, no one here knows what’s wrong with you or can do anything about it
