Artsy-
My teacher scribbled on a piece of paper for us to colour in. It was so simple but the whole class went mad for it!

physical-
Having a few kids in a circle lifting up a sheet and trying to run to the other side before it falls.

The 4 weeks before Christmas

I loved doing science experiments from Usborne books; I especially liked testing my directional hearing, by trying to point at someone who clapped while I was blindfolded.

CoffeeAndDryShampoo · 05/03/2021 21:44

My nan looked after me and my brother a lot while our parents were at work, and she would sit us down with one of those big A3 scrapbooks made of sugar paper, a pile of old magazines, some scissors and glue & we would happily cut out pictures and stick them in our scrapbooks. I'm 31 now and I've still kept some of mine for the memories Smile

Playing in a compost heap at the bottom of our garden, going to the library, making collages from old cards and magazines, drawing characters and pretending they were from video games, pretending we were radio show hosts and recording our voices on cassette, reading magazines, makjng perfume from Rose's, playing outside on our street for hours on end.

HomeEdRocks18 · 05/03/2021 22:51

Playing out in the field behind our house

lljkk · 05/03/2021 22:52

Reading novels. Total bookworm. Drawing, writing, puzzles, walking the dog.

Rarely read novels nowadays but volunteer dog walk :).

toolatetofixate · 05/03/2021 23:05

Rollerblading
"Adventuring" (basically just playing in the streets with a backpack of gear- toy binoculars, water pistol etc.)
Playing in the burst water mains every summer

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/03/2021 23:07

Playmobil.

We had a fair bit, but my friend across the road had even more. They kept it in a massive old crisps box, and we would tip it out on the middle landing (halfway up the stairs was a half landing with the bathroom), and set up the homes on the few stairs up to the bedrooms. Such fun

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 05/03/2021 23:10

Everything

I want to wind back please!

sorryforswearing · 05/03/2021 23:11

Playing two ball and French skipping (elastics).
Doing ‘tricks’ on the roundabout in the play area at the park. ( Don’t know how we didn’t kill ourselves). Playing shops with empty packets and tins. Happy days.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/03/2021 23:25

Playing Kerbie.

Cisonostatibellagiorni · 05/03/2021 23:32

Making models out of flora tubs and sellotape. My poor DM used to have to try and guess what they were.

thatonesmine · 05/03/2021 23:44

Playing ball with my dog. She was brilliant at it, she could run really fast and was fantastic at catching. If I bounced the ball really high she'd propel herself almost vertically to catch it in mid air then run back and drop it at my feet. I never tired of playing with her and she was happy to keep going for ages. 50 years have gone by and I still get choked when I think about that dog.

Spermysextowel · 05/03/2021 23:50

Another sleeping-bag stair sledger here. All these years I’ve thought that my sisters and I were unique in this!
We used to make rose petal perfume too. My mother got so fed up with us making a mess in the kitchen sink that she banned it. Instead we used to lurk outside waiting for her to empty the sink so we could catch the waste water to make our creations. Nice....

Notjustanymum · 06/03/2021 00:06

Reading. And reading more.

millievanille · 06/03/2021 08:09

Paper dolls and paper clothes. You could trace the original garment and design your own. The clothes had tabs to keep them on the doll- sort of. I had a full wardrobe- well a shoe box !

LunaNorth · 06/03/2021 09:33

Exactly the same as now:

Reading
Going for long solitary walks, or with a dog
Gardening
Swimming/playing in the sea
Faffing with cosmetics
Cooking

I was born 40 Smile

LunaNorth · 06/03/2021 09:34

Oh, and collecting stuff. It used to be dolls, fans, coins, hedgehogs and Garfield memorabilia.

Now it’s perfume and books.

JaceLancs · 06/03/2021 09:38

Swimming and ice skating
Crazy golf
Threading beads and bead weaving
