To ask the most useless "convenience" food you've ever purchased

I recently added oven chips to an online shop, not realising they weren't pre-coated with oil.
Given that I prefer skin-on fries why do they always cost more? I'd effectively bought a bag of expensive sliced up potato.
On the plus side, it has made me realise that buying oven chips is a total waste of time, particularly as I have very limited freezer space.
What's the daftest "convenience" food have you purchased before realising it's a total waste of money?

I buy the frozen mash a lot to make shepherds pie rather than making a huge mess (its £1.20 & a bit better than smash ).
I buy microwave rice because I have trouble with organisation and if I didn't use some short cuts we wouldn't eat.
Buy frozen prepped veg or the dried onions . But I do just chop stuff too.
I buy grated cheese (either the value stuff or poundland) as I find it difficult to cut.
I buy the bags of salad too.
The small tins of beans as they are just the right size.
I have a learning disability which makes organisation hard . None of it is pointless to me or my family . We get to eat. I've learned to lower my standards.

For those asking why the poster couldn't go to Costco and if it was a made up rule about not crossing local authority boundaries in Scotland- unfortunately not! It is illegal to go leave your local authority area unless for work, education or caring purposes...
oh I think also for instance if a golf course straddles 2 local authority areas you are allowed to access the second area during that round of golf

most take away food is convenience, but really sandwiches and meal deals are absolute rips offs, along with packs of carrot sticks and pre cooked boiled eggs, all to just pander to the myth that we are all so busy 25 hours a day to do it ourselves.

I buy frozen chips and cook them in the fryer. They're horrible cooked in the oven.

I agree-they go all dry. I do mine in an air fryer and they're lovely.

You get more of a variety choosing a ready-made sandwich than what you'd make yourself. Sometimes there are quite a few ingredients that it wouldn't be worth your while buying a big pack of. Plus, people often like a trip to the shop at lunchtime. One of the things I miss in lockdown even if I'm saving money.
