I give up. Talking to a nice guy supposedly for a week. Starting talking about going on a walk etc. Spoke tonight all fine then he deleted his profile. What's the point honestly

Honestly men are idiots at the minute. I’m online dating and I’ve found the only ones on there only want sex or no commitment. It’s a hard one but maybe he met someone else .

BLTLover · 01/03/2021 21:33

They're just hard work. Lol

Yep I started talking to a guy swapped numbers then nothing it’s like eh

oldegg123 · 01/03/2021 22:37

ugh at least you got that far

All the apps here seem to exclusively have men who are either 26/27 or 38+. There's no happy medium!

I just want a man reasonably close to my age (31) Grin What are they all doing?

TeaAndBrie · 01/03/2021 22:39

Internet dating is exhausting. Although there are some good ones out there, they sometimes take a while to find.
I found my DH online so it can be a good result.
Good luck Smile

I've had abit of a different experience, men hounding me to meet after talking to me for five minutes spamming me with hearts and generally being creepy had the odd one lie about their jobs or message me first to tell me theyre not interested because I'm brunette and not a size 6 wtf??

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/03/2021 22:59

I had the word curvy on my profile when I dabbled for a week before I decided to be eternally single and had a message off a man to ask me how curvy as he only liked curvy women 'like Victoria Beckham and nowhere as big as Beyoncé'

PermanentTemporary · 01/03/2021 23:02

I think it's mutual at the moment... I have a male friend who ok isn't perfect but he has a lot going for him, -he's awesome in bed too-- women give him a maximum of a couple of weeks online to wow them. If you were fancying each other at work it might be months before you have a conversation much beyond 'how was your weekend'.

OD is a totally different process to meeting IRL though. The profile is like the job application and the chatting is like a job interview, and it's a waste of time to chat for ages IMHO. I don't blame them for wanting to crack on fairly quickly . It's impossible to tell if there's chemistry without meeting, which means it's possible to chat for ages, develop feelings then be very disappointed when meeting. It's not a good idea to invest too much time chatting online or texting before meeting for that reason, plus it means you've not lost much when they suddenly disappear with no warning. Been there, so now I have a rule that I will chat for up to a week online, then move to a phone call (can tell a bit more about someone when you can hear their voice), then meet ASAP after that. So many men on dating apps just seem to like the fantasy of dating, the chatting, but won't go further than that. So many time-wasters that need weeding out. 2 weeks is plenty of time to decide if someone is worth meeting.

Agree, its exhausting. I'm back online (I dip in and out) I'm either getting the young guys with a Mrs Robinson complex or mid 50's upwards (I'm early 40's) and they are all bloody loads shorter than me. I'm tall so that's no difficult, but I really don't want a boyfriend who is 5.4" when I'm 5.11" (shallow I know)

Most are incapable of asking questions or continuing on a conversation besides 'Hi, how are you'.

I don't think I'm anything special, but it isn't hard to talk to people.

This comment doesn't help w.r.t. the high suicide rate in short men.
Wannabegreenfingers · 02/03/2021 11:12

@Propagandalf I've never bought anyone up on their height or put them down about. It's personal preference. Just like I don't find very thin or very fat men attractive. I scroll on by.

I've had many comments on mine, good & bad....

BLTLover · 02/03/2021 12:20

I'm 34 and thinking this is it for me. I cant be bothered honestly.

I met my husband online but the bloody dross I had to sift through. One guy couldn’t hold a conversation everything I said was met with ‘lol’..,jeez.
One guy winked at me or messaged me , I can’t remember now. I looked at his profile and it went on about how he had been hurt in love etc and he wasn’t really my type. I didn’t respond so I got a message a few days later asking mu why and I should have at least turned him down if I wasn’t interested and he liked me and thought I should respond. Erm how about no!

One obviously skim read my profile, he picked out one comment saying I was considering re-training to be a teacher but got now I work in finance. He messaged me saying ‘so you’re a teacher eh? Hope it not at x school that’s where I went?’ No I’m not a teacher and why do I give a shit which school you went to?

I was talking to be a guy but he never mentioned meeting up and his messages were all about how busy he was each weekend. Dismantling sheds, building decking and so on. Kind of putting out there that he wasn’t available. Why contact me then.

One was after sex and nothing else.

It was hard going.

BLTLover · 02/03/2021 17:54

I really hope my son isnt like this in 20 or 30 years.

Also dipped in and out of online dating for years, i was quite a catch when i first started, not so much now! But my current bugbear is it always feels like a job interview where im asking questions and they just give direct answers, even the guys who have messaged first with the standard “High, nice profile fancy a chat” 😃

Then they delete their profile halfway through the “interview”.

bangheadhere40 · 02/03/2021 22:09

So many want penpals and avoid meeting, so many emotionally unavailables, equally lots of stalkers.

It really is dire.

BLTLover · 02/03/2021 22:29

I wish I'd met someone normal when I was young and everyone was single
