People should not go on holiday in Dubai

After reading and hearing about the treatment of women in general and, in particular, what has happened to Princess Latifa how can people go on holiday to Dubai? Also her sister, Shamsa, allegedly abducted by her Father in the UK, drugged and taken back to Dubai. WTF is wrong with people who can go to Dubai for a freekin holiday whilst this is happening.

I find it amusing or rather ....sad that people still seem to think Dubai is an actual country rather than 1 of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE. I would hope that those saying they wouldn't go to Dubai would also give Abu Dhabi (and the F1 a miss).
Having lived there for a few years (Dubai and 1 of the other lesser known Emirates) I would go back tomorrow.

@ShesMadeATwatOfMePam

I don't understand the poster who corresponded with the hotel in malaysia who said they were doing everything possible to fight back against the persecution of gay people then still refused to go and stay there. Wouldn't you want to support this business?
This was me. Yes I did want to support the cause but not by going and spending money in the country and kind of ‘normalising it’ so decided not to go. No brainer really. If things change they are top of my wish list travel-wise.

Dubai is a fake shithole in the desert, women have less rights and it is built on modern slavery, the whole area is the same.

It will be interesting next year that all the footballers who have been kneeling will be condoning slavery when they play in Qatar.

Thank you for telling me where I can and cannot go. I won’t listen . I shall make my own decision

Not if you accidentally come across a public beheading

In Dubai? You quite sure about that? Grin

People can holiday where they like ( laws and restrictions taken into account of course) I don't think you'll make anybody feel guilty about where they go on a holiday.
@BoKatan I agree that Dubai is one of many countries with horrendous human rights records and I think we should try to avoid going to all of them, US included certainly whilst Trump was in charge.
I only came here to let you know that Dubai is a city, not a country.
